In the Dover, Deal & District Bar Billiards League Summer League, The Market Inn have opened a commanding 14 point lead after a 6-0 victory away to the Plough & Harrow B in Tilmanstone. Craig Carlson (2,910), Gareth Butcher (2,400) and Derek Latham (4,990) swept the singles, with doubles successes for Latham & Dave Carliell (4,710), Carliell & Butcher (2,730) and Butcher & Carlson (4,240).
In an all-Deal clash, Betteshanger Club won 4-2 at home to the Magnet A to leapfrog their rivals and move second. Dave Howarth scored an impressive 6,120 to put Betteshanger ahead, before Magnet wins for Lin Callanan (2,440) and Mike Callanan (4,720). A close first doubles saw Ricky Cowdrey & Ward Griffiths edge Mike Callanan & John Higgens 3,160-2,970, followed by further Betteshanger victories for Howarth & Griffiths (4,150) and Warren Cowdrey & Griffiths (4,340).
The Magnet B enjoyed their first win of the Summer League, defeating the Plough & Harrow A 4-2. Dawn Williams (2,020) put the Magnet B in front, but Ann Keen (1,360) and Karen Keen (2,840) both won for the visiting Plough team. Doubles Magnet wins for Val Judd & Shirley Cowdrey (2,280) and Cowdrey & Williams (1,810) put them back in the lead, and Williams & Judd took the last leg 980-660 for the match victory.
