In the Dover, Deal & District Bar Billiards League, the Market Inn continued their good start with a 5-1 victory at home to the Plough & Harrow B from Tilmanstone. Craig Carlson (4,710) and Derek Latham (4,770) put the Sandwich side ahead, before Gerald Gilbert (2,550) gained a point for the visitors. All the doubles went to the Market Inn via Latham & Dave Carliell (2,810), Carliell & Gareth Butcher (3,380) and Carlson & Latham (4,310).
The Magnet A defeated the Betteshanger Bricks 4-2 to move second. John Higgens (4,490) put the Magnet ahead, before Ward Griffiths (2,130) and Warren Cowdrey (4,280) put Betteshanger in front. Some competitive doubles saw the Magnet emerge winners as Lin Callanan & Mike Callanan (4,400), Mike Callanan & Higgens (5,000) and Higgens & Lin Callanan (3,450) all won.
The Plough & Harrow A won 5-1 at home to the Magnet B. Karen Keen (1,910) put the Tilmanstone side ahead, Brian Carpenter beat Tanya Philpott 1,970-1500 and Ann Keen defeated Dawn Williams 1,970-1,590 to extend their lead. The first doubles saw Ann Keen & Karen Keen (3,030) secure the match victory, before Val Judd & Williams (1,690) gained the Magnet’s point. The last leg went to Karen Keen & Carpenter (2,930) for the Plough.
