In the Dover, Deal & District Bar Billiards League, the Plough & Harrow, Bridge won 4-2 at home to the Magnet A, and are looking like champions with two games to play. Baz Symes (3,390) and Keith Symes (6,530) both won for the Plough, either side of a Magnet success or Mike Callanan (6,900). Ian Dennett & Baz Symes (6,480) and Baz Symes & Keith Symes (4,660) took the first two doubles and the match, while Mike Callanan & John Higgens (4,100) gained the last leg for the visitors from Deal.

The Brickmakers Arms B defeated the Market Inn 3.5-2.5, a welcome victory for the Deal side after two heavy defeats. Warren Cowdrey (3,910) put the Brickies ahead, before Market Inn successes for Gareth Butcher (3,310) and Craig Carlson (6,080). Rick Cowdrey & Warren Cowdrey (5,530) levelled with the first doubles, and Warren Cowdrey & Dave Howarth edged Butcher & Dave Carliell 2,330-2,270 to put the Brickies in front. The last leg was drawn 3,360 each between Howarth & Rick Cowdrey and Carlson & Carliell to nudge the Deal team over the winning line.

 

In the Plate competition, the Plough & Harrow A, Tilmanstone defeated the Brickmakers A 4-2 to remain top. Brian Carpenter (2,900) and Ann Keen (2,430) both won, either side of a Brickies victory for Chris Gent (1,600). Craig Lancaster & Ann Garlinge (2,190) levelled with the first doubles, before Plough wins for Ron Beer & Carpenter (3,190) and Keen & Beer (2,720) for the match.

The Plough & Harrow B, Tilmanstone won 3.5-2.5 away to the Magnet B in Deal. Phil Court (1,650) and Gerald Gilbert (3,870) both won for the Plough, before a Magnet win via Dawn Williams (1,890). Tanya Philpott & Williams edged Gilbert & Harry Pearson 1,460-1,440 to level matters, Williams & Shirley Cowdrey drew 2,160-2,160 with Pearson & Court, and finally Court & Gilbert (1,780) took the last leg and the match.
