The second half of the Summer League in the Dover, Deal & District Bar Billiards League is underway, and the champions of 2 years ago Plough & Harrow, Bridge drew 3-3 at home to defending champions Market Inn from Sandwich. Keith Symes (5,930) put the Plough ahead, Derek Latham beat Ian Dennett 4,880-4,370 to level, before Baz Symes (5,060) regained the Plough lead. Craig Carlson & Latham (3,560) took the first doubles, Dennett & Baz Symes (5,390) again put their team in front, and finally Latham & Dave Carliell (5,630) forced the draw.

The Magnet A drew 3-3 with fellow-Deal team Brickmakers B to leave the table all square. Warren Cowdrey (2,840) put the Brickies ahead, Mike Callanan (3,210) levelled, and Rick Cowdrey potted the last ball down the 100 hole to defeat Lin Callanan 1,960-1,870. Lin Callanan & Mike Callanan (3,530) took the first doubles, Dave Howarth & Warren Cowdrey edged John Higgens & Lin Callanan 3,660-3,600 to put the Brickies in front, before Mike Callanan & Higgens (4,110) won to ensure the match was drawn.

 

In the Plate Competition, the Magnet B are early leaders after winning 4-2 away to the Brickmakers Arms A. Chris Gent (2,760) and Ann Garlinge (1,810) won for the Brickies either side of a Magnet B success for Tanya Philpott (1,830). The visitors then took command of the doubles to clinch the match victory via Philpott & Dawn Williams (3,450), Williams & Shirley Cowdrey (2,490) and Cowdrey & Philpott (3,540).

The Plough & Harrow A, Tilmanstone drew 3-3 with the Plough & Harrow B. Brian Carpenter edged Ron Beer 1,650-1,000 and Karen Keen (2,260) put the A 2-0 up. Gerald Gilbert (3,180) took the last singles for the B, and then he and Beer (4,340) won the first doubles to level. Carpenter & Ann Keen narrowly defeated Gilbert & Harry Pearson 2,410-2,330, before Pearson & Beer (3,810) won the last leg for the draw.
