In the Dover, Deal & District
Bar Billiards League, in Group A
the Royal Oak won 4-2 away to
the Brickmakers A to keep
themselves in the race for the
top-two. Steve Lake (3,930) and
Mark Graves (3,590) put them
ahead, before Chris Gent (2,890)
won for the Brickies. Graves &
Roger Oldfield (1,760) took the
first doubles, but Paul Garlinge
& Ann Garlinge won 1,130-1,060
for another leg to the Brickies.
Nigel Scott & Oldfield (2,330)
took the last leg and the match
for the Oak.
The Market Inn B defeated Plough
& Harrow B, Tilmanstone 4-2 in
Sandwich. Gareth Butcher
(4,470) and Dave Carliell
(2,240) both won for the Market,
before a Plough victory for Phil
Court (4,620). Alan Farra &
Butcher (2,310) took the first
doubles, Harry Pearson & Gerald
Gilbert (750) won for the
Plough, and Carliell & Farra
took the final leg 1,250-1,020
for the match victory.
In Group B, the Plough & Harrow
A, Bridge, have moved top after
defeating Betteshanger Club B
5-1. Keith Symes (2,250), Ian
Dennett (6,860) and Baz Symes
(3,120) swept the singles, and
Keith Symes & Dennett (1,930)
secured the match with the first
doubles. Bill Edwards & Dave
Mackay edged their leg
1,930-1,880 for the Betteshanger
point, but Baz Symes & Keith
Symes (2,300) won the last game.
The Plough & Harrow A,
Tilmanstone, won 5-1 at home to
the Magnet B. Ann Keen (2,050),
Karen Keen (2,400) and Brian
Carpenter (1,390) swept the
singles, and Karen Keen & Ann
Keen (2,650) won the first
doubles for the match. Shirley
Cowdrey & Donna Prior (1,700)
won for the Deal side, before
Carpenter & Karen Keen (1,980)
took the last leg.
