In the Dover, Deal & District Bar
Billiards League, no change in
Group A as all the fixtures were
drawn. Leaders Betteshanger A
drew 3-3 with the Two Sawyers.
Neville Potts edged Stuart
Richardson 4,030-3,950; Chris
Saville (8,170) won despite Gary
Clarke’s opening 4,140 break,
before Alan Smith (7,690) won for
Sawyers. Saville & Potts took the
first doubles 1,290-1,260, but
further Sawyers successes for
Richardson & Smith (2,510) and
Smith & Clarke (1,530) forced the
draw.
The Brickmakers B and the Market
Inn B drew 3-3 in Deal. Dave
Howarth (2,470) put the Brickies
ahead, before Gareth Butcher
(3,900) and Alan Farra (2,350) won
for the Sandwich-side. Ricky
Cowdrey & Warren Cowdrey (2,040)
levelled matters, Dave Carliell &
Alan Farra (1,770) restored the
Market lead, and finally Howarth &
Ricky Cowdrey defeated Butcher &
Carliell 1,280-1,270 to ensure a
share of the spoils.
The Plough & Harrow B, Tilmanstone
drew 3-3 with the Brickmakers A.
Ann Garlinge (1,820) and Craig
Lancaster (1,620) won either side
of a Plough victory for Phil Court
(1,950). Chris Gent & Lancaster
(1,860) took the first doubles,
but the Plough hit back as Ian
Jamieson & Court won 2,040-2,010,
and Harry Pearson & Jamieson beat
Ann Garlinge & Gent 1,720-1,710,
Pearson putting the last ball down
the 200 hole to gain the draw.
In Group B, the Plough & Harrow A,
Bridge won 6-0 away to the Magnet
B to move second. Baz Symes
(1,760), Keith Symes (8,430) and
Ian Dennett (4,420) swept the
singles, with further doubles
successes for Dennett & Baz Symes
(2,240), Keith Symes & Dennett
(1,740) and Baz Symes & Keith
Symes (2,210).
The Market Inn A beat the Plough &
Harrow A, Tilmanstone 4-2 and are
now third. Craig Carlson (4,730),
Derek Latham (5,160) and John
Skinner (3,250) took the singles
for the home side, but the Plough
fought back in the doubles via Ann
Keen & Karen Keen (2,010) and Ron
Beer & Ann Keen (2,520). Carlson
& Ted Hogben beat Karen Keen &
Beer 2,250-2,110 for the match,
Carlson’s late triangle-fettered
950 break giving the Market the
advantage.
