In the Dover, Deal & District Bar
Billiards League, as the second
half of the Spring Cup starts,
Betteshanger Club A increased
their lead in Group A with a 6-0
win at home to Brickmakers A.
Wins in the singles matches for
Wack Sampson (4,840), Chris
Saville (5,740) and Neville Potts
(6,420) were followed by all three
doubles matches as Saville & Potts
(2,020), Sampson & Saville (2,230)
and finally Potts & Sampson
(1,960) took all the points.
The Two Sawyers defeated the
Market Inn B 4-2. Richard Cousens
(1,930) won for Sawyers, Alan
Farra (2,560) levelled, and Stuart
Richardson edged Dave Carliell
1,780-1,600 to regain the lead.
Cousens & Smith (2,030) took the
first doubles, Farra & Gareth
Butcher (1,710) gave the Market
hope, before Alan Smith &
Richardson (1,460) claimed the
match.
The Brickmakers B drew 3-3 at home
to the Royal Oak. Warren Cowdrey
(2,890) put Brickies ahead, before
Oak victories for Nigel Scott
(4,470) and Roger Oldfield
(3,060). Warren Cowdrey & Dave
Howarth (2,310) levelled and Ricky
Cowdrey & Warren Cowdrey just beat
Steve Lake & Scott 1,840-1,830 to
give the Brickies the lead.
Oldfield & Lake (2,150) took the
last leg to force the draw.
In Group B, an all-Plough &
Harrow, Bridge clash in saw their
A side beat the B side 4-2. Ian
Dennett (6,700) and Baz Symes
(6,680) put the A 2-0 up, before a
B win for Kevin Kay (3,870). The
first doubles saw the B level via
John Fullager & Stan Brocklebank
(2,710), before A successes for
Keith Symes & Dennett (2,520) and
Baz Symes & Keith Symes (2,630),
which saw triangle-fettered breaks
of 1,600 for Dennett and 1,050 by
Keith Symes.
The Market Inn A drew 3-3 with
Betteshanger B, keeping the
Sandwich side second. Luke Smith
(2,020) and Dave Mackay (1,940)
put the visitors 2-0 up, before a
Market win for Derek Latham
(6,670). Craig Carlson & John
Skinner (2,400) levelled, Mackay &
John Higgens (1,680) regained
Betteshanger’s lead, and finally
Latham & Skinner (1,670) won to
force the draw.
