In the Dover, Deal & District Bar
Billiards League, Group A, The Two Sawyers
won 6-0 away to the Brickmakers B to move
second. Stuart Richardson (3,430), Alan
Smith (3,090) and Gary Clark (3,180) swept
the singles, before Smith & Richard
Cousens edged Dave Howarth & Ricky Cowdrey
1,720-1,710 to ensure the overall
victory. Two Sawyers took the last two
doubles, the final one for Clark & Cousens
(2,140).
The Market Inn B enjoyed a 4-2 win away to
the Plough & Harrow B, Tilmanstone. Dave
Carliell (1,680), Gareth Butcher (2,850)
and Alan Farra (3,990) took the singles
for the Sandwich side, before Plough
victories in the doubles for Phil Court &
Gerald Gilbert (1,270) and Harry Pearson &
Court, Pearson hitting a
triangles-fettered 1,140 break. Farra &
Butcher (2,100) took the last leg and the
match victory for the Market.
The Royal Oak won 4-2 at home to the
Brickmakers B. Roger Oldfield (2,140),
Mark Graves (2,420) and Nigel Scott
(2,310) took the singles, and Oldfield &
Steve Lake (1,590) won the first doubles
and the match, with Brickies successes for
Craig Lancaster & Paul Garlinge (2,180)
and Chris Gent & Lancaster (1,450).
In Group B, the Plough & Harrow A, Bridge,
won 5-1 away to the Betteshanger Club B to
move top. Keith Symes (3,320), Baz Symes
(4,170) and Ian Dennett (6,200) swept the
singles for the Bridge team, before Dave
Mackay and Luke Smith (1,550) took the
first doubles for Betteshanger. Baz Symes
& Keith Symes (2,260) secured the match,
and Keith Symes & Dennett (1,720) won the
last leg for the Plough.
The Plough & Harrow A, Tilmanstone, are
now second after a 4-2 win away to the
Magnet B. Donna Prior (1,150) put the
Magnet ahead, before Plough victories for
Ron Beer (2,200) and Ann Keen (3,270).
Further Plough successes for Keen & Brian
Carpenter (1,850) and Carpenter & Beer
(2,260) gave them the match, but Dawn
Williams & Prior (1,260) took the last leg
for the Magnet.
