In the Dover, Deal & District Bar Billiards
League, leaders Chantry lost 4-2 away to the
Market Inn A, keeping the title open until
the last week. John Fullager (4,360) won
for the Chantry, before Market successes for
Craig Carlson (2,060) and Derek Latham
(5,200). Carlson & Latham (6,250) took the
first doubles, and Latham & Ted Hogben
(5,190) sealed the match victory, with
Fullager & Kevin Kay (4,290) taking the last
leg for the visitors.
Betteshanger A finished their season with a
5-1 win away to the Two Sawyers, Woolage
Green, and still hope to finish runners-up.
The visitors swept all the singles matches
thanks to wins for Neville Potts (3,400),
Wack Sampson (3,320) and Chris Saville
(5,240). Stuart Richardson and Smith
(3,890) took the first doubles for Sawyers,
but Sampson &
Potts (2,580) secured the match thanks to a
last-ball win. Potts & Saville (4,850) won
the last leg.
In Division Two, the Betteshanger B are
within touching-distance of the title after
a 5-1 home win against the Brickmakers A.
Bill Edwards (3,930) and Luke Smith (1,570)
put Betteshanger ahead, before Paul Garlinge
(3,520) pegged a point back for Brickies.
All the doubles went to Betteshanger via
Smith & Edwards (5,380), Dave Mackay & Smith
(2,880) and Edwards & Mackay (2,290).
Second-placed Brickmakers B enjoyed a 4-2
home win against Plough & Harrow B,
Tilmanstone. Dave Howarth (3,090) and
Warren Cowdrey (2,880) won for the Brickies,
as did Gerald Gilbert (4,220) for the
Plough. Harry Pearson & Ken Keen won
1,760-1,690 to level, Warren Cowdrey &
Howarth (4,150) regained the lead, and Rick
Cowdrey & Warren Cowdrey (2,090) completed
the Brickies victory.
The Market Inn B from Sandwich won 6-0 away
to the Magnet B, Deal. Dave Carliell
(1,460), Alan Farra (2,390) and Gareth
Butcher (3,700) swept the singles, and
doubles successes for Farra & Butcher
(4,850), Carliell & Farra (3,220) and
Butcher & Carliell (4,280) followed.
