In the Dover, Deal & District Bar Billiards League, the Chantry won 4-2 at home to their nearest rivals, Plough & Harrow from Bridge.  Kevin Kay (5,160) and John Fullager (5.460) won either side of a Plough success for Baz Symes (6,070).  Doubles victories for Fullager & Chris Cook (5,960) and Cook & Kay (3,750) sealed the match, with Keith Symes & Ian Dennett (4,860) taking the last leg for the Plough.

Betteshanger A have moved second thanks to a 5-1 home victory against the Market Inn A.  Neville Potts (8,570), Chris Saville (7,330) and Wack Sampson (6,350) swept the singles, Potts hitting a 5,660 break.  Potts & Saville (6,580) took the first doubles, Sampson & Potts (4,920) also triumphed, before Derek Latham & John Skinner won 4,250-4,110 saved the whitewash for the Market.

The Royal Oak won 4-2 away to struggling Magnet A.  John Higgens (4,400) put the Deal side ahead, before Oak victories for Roger Oldfield (2,380) and Steve Lake (4,300).  Oldfield & Nigel Scott (3,470) took the first doubles, Lin Callanan & Mike Callanan (3,350) responded well, before Mark Graves & Scott (5,720) secured the match.

 

In Division Two, leaders Betteshanger B drew 3-3 away to the Market Inn B.  Dave Carliell (2,950) and Gareth Butcher (1,980) won for the Market, either side of a Betteshanger victory for Bill Edwards (2,800).  Edwards & Dave MacKay (2,020) levelled, Alan Farra & Butcher (5,930) regained the Sandwich side’s lead, and finally Luke Smith & Edwards (3,480) forced the draw.

The Brickmakers A defeated Plough & Harrow A, Tilmanstone 4-2.  An early doubles win for Karen Keen & Ann Keen (2,140) and singles success for Brian Carpenter (2,490) put the visitors 2-0 up, but singles victories for Paul Garlinge (1,100) and Ann Garlinge (2,580) and doubles wins for Craig Lancaster & Ann Garlinge (2,310) and Chris Gent & Lancaster (2,550) secured the match.

The Plough & Harrow B, Tilmanstone won 4-2 at home to the Magnet B.  Donna Prior (1,850) and Shirley Cowdrey (2,070) won for the Magnet B, with Gerald Gilbert (2,650) winning for the Plough.  All the doubles went to the home side, via Christine Jamieson & Gilbert (3,100), Ian Jamieson & Christine Jamieson (1,330) and Gilbert & Ian Jamieson (2,560) to complete the match victory.

The Brickmakers B won 5-1 away to Magnet B to stay second.  Warren Cowdrey (6,610), Dave Howarth (2,980) and Ricky Cowdrey (8,090) took the singles, the latter with an impressive 6,550 break.  The first two doubles went to the Brickies, the second for Howarth & Ricky Cowdrey (6,720), with Shirley Cowdrey & Dawn Williams (1,950) picking up the last leg for the Magnet.

The Plough & Harrow A, Tilmanstone won 4-2 at home to the Market Inn B.  Ann Keen (4,230) put the Plough ahead, before Market successes for Dave Carliell (2,210) and Alan Farra (4,010).  All the doubles went to the Plough via Karen Keen & Brian Carpenter (2,540), Ann Keen & Karen Keen (3,870) and Carpenter & Ann Keen (2,060) for the match victory.
