In the Dover, Deal & District Bar Billiards
League, leaders Chantry drew 3-3 away to the
Royal Oak, Nonington. Kevin Kay (3,030) put
the Chantry in front, before Oak victories
for Nigel Scott (4,120) and Mark Graves
(2,490). Stan Brocklebank & Kay (6,150) and
Kay & John Fullager (4,620) took the first
two doubles, and Scott & Roger Oldfield
(2,670) forced the draw.
Leadership rivals Plough & Harrow and the
Betteshanger Alma Lions drew 3-3 in Bridge.
Chris Saville beat Keith Symes 8,050-4,260,
Saville hitting a 7,620 break, Symes a break
of 4,180. Ian Dennett (6,660) levelled, and
Baz Symes (8,050) put the Plough ahead,
courtesy of a 4,650 break. Doubles
successes for Neville Potts & Saville
(6,190) and Saville & Wack Sampson (5,040)
put Betteshanger ahead, before Keith Symes &
Dennett (3,650) gained the draw.
In a relegation battle, the Market Inn A
beat the Two Sawyers 4-2. Craig Carlson
(4,280) and Derek Latham (2,910) won for the
Market, either side of a Sawyers victory for
Alan Smith (3,650). Carlson & John Skinner
(4,390) extended the Sandwich side’s lead,
Richard Cousens & Stuart Richardson (3,670)
narrowed the lead, before Ted Hogben &
Carlson (4,530) claimed the match.
In Division Two, Betteshanger B remain top
after defeating Plough & Harrow B,
Tilmanstone 5-1. Dave Mackay (2,460), Luke
Smith (4,420) and Bill Edwards (1,870) swept
the singles, Smith hitting a 4,260 break.
The first two doubles also went to
Betteshanger, Edwards & Mackay (2,940)
clinching the match, and Ron Beer & Ken Keen
(1,380) took the last leg.
The Brickmakers B won 5-1 away to Magnet B
to stay second. Warren Cowdrey (6,610),
Dave Howarth (2,980) and Ricky Cowdrey
(8,090) took the singles, the latter with an
impressive 6,550 break. The first two
doubles went to the Brickies, the second for
Howarth & Ricky Cowdrey (6,720), with
Shirley Cowdrey & Dawn Williams (1,950)
picking up the last leg for the Magnet.
The Plough & Harrow A, Tilmanstone won 4-2
at home to the Market Inn B. Ann Keen
(4,230) put the Plough ahead, before Market
successes for Dave Carliell (2,210) and Alan
Farra (4,010). All the doubles went to the
Plough via Karen Keen & Brian Carpenter
(2,540), Ann Keen & Karen Keen (3,870) and
Carpenter & Ann Keen (2,060) for the match
victory.
