In the Dover, Deal & District Bar Billiards
League,
the Chantry extended their lead with a 4-2
home victory against the Magnet A. John
Higgens (5,190) put the visitors ahead, but
Chantry successes for Stan Brocklebank
(5,260) and ken Kay (5,890) followed. The
first two doubles went to the Chantry, the
match-winner coming from Brocklebank & John
Fullager (4,540), with Mike Callanan &
Higgens (3,470) taking the final leg for the
Magnet.
In Woolage Green, the Two Sawyers drew 3-3
with the Plough & Harrow, Bridge. Gary
Clarke (5,840) and Alan Smith (5,820) both
won for Sawyers, either side of a Plough win
for Ian Dennett (3,140). Dennett & Baz
Symes (2,530) levelled, Clarke & Stuart
Richardson (3,060) re-established the
Sawyers lead, before Baz Symes & Keith Symes
(5,080) forced the draw.
Betteshanger A won 5-1 at home to the Royal
Oak from Nonington. Chris Saville (13,290)
courtesy of a 9,450 break, Roger Oldfield
(6,830) levelled, before Neville Potts
(4,750) restored the Betteshanger lead. All
three doubles went to Betteshanger, Saville
& Wack Sampson (6,670) took the first
doubles, and Potts & Saville (4,360)
clinched the match.
In Division two, the battle of the top two
finished with a 4-2 away win for
Betteshanger B against the Brickmakers B.
Bill Edwards (2,420) and Luke Smith (2,160)
won either side of a Brickies victory for
Dave Howarth (4,450). Edwards & Dave Mackay
(3,030) followed by Smith & Edwards (4,890)
clinched the match, with Ricky Cowdrey &
Warren Cowdrey (3,000) taking the last leg
for the Brickies.
Pub honours went to the Plough & Harrow A,
Tilmanstone, as they beat their B team 4-2.
Brian Carpenter (2,760), Ann Keen (2,160)
and Karen Keen (2,740) all won for the A,
with Karen Keen & Ann Keen (3,180) taking
the first doubles for the match. Ian
Jamieson & Phil Court (1,890) and Court &
Gerald Gilbert (2,760) restored some pride
for the B.
The Market Inn B drew 3-3 at home to the
Brickmakers A. Dave Carliell (2,280) put
the Sandwich side ahead, but Paul Garlinge
(1,340) and Ann Garlinge (2,430) both won
for the Brickies. Alan Farra & Carliell
(1,800) levelled, Craig Lancaster & Paul
Garlinge (2,200) restored the Deal side’s
lead, and finally Christine Farra & Alan
Farra (2,640) gained the draw.
