At the halfway stage of the Dover, Deal
& District Bar Billiards League the
Chantry Club from Canterbury have
extended their lead after a 5-1 win away
to the Two Sawyers at Woolage Green.
John Fullager (6,870) and Stan
Brocklebank (5,940) won for the Chantry
either side of a Two Sawyers success for
Alan Smith (6,620). All the doubles
went to the Chantry, the highest-scoring
by Fullager & Brocklebank (6,550).
The Plough & Harrow from Bridge defeated
the Royal Oak 5-1 to remain second.
Keith Symes (6,350) won courtesy of
3,320 and 3,060 breaks, and Baz Symes
(3,090) extended their lead, with Nigel
Scott (5,470) gaining a point back. All
the doubles went the Bridge way, Ian
Dennett & Baz Symes (6,230)
high-scoring.
The Magnet A won 4-2 away to the Market
Inn to leap-frog them in the table.
Mike Callanan (3,220) put the Magnet
ahead, but wins for John Skinner (1,410)
and Craig Carlson (3,860) put the Market
Inn in front. Lin Callanan & Mike
Callanan (3,460) levelled, and the final
two legs followed, with John Higgens &
Lin Callanan (4,860) high-scoring.
The Brickmakers B are the new leaders of
Division Two after deposing the Market
Inn B with a 5-1 home victory. Dave
Howarth (3,270), Rick Cowdrey (3,100)
and Warren Cowdrey (3,040) swept the
singles for the Brickies, but Alan Farra
& Gareth Butcher (3,600) gave the Market
hope. Howarth & Warren Cowdrey (4,230)
extinguished that hope in the next leg
to ensure the Brickies win.
Betteshanger B defeated the Plough &
Harrow A, Tilmanstone 4-2 to move
second. Bill Edwards (4,200) and Luke
Smith (6,220) won for Betteshanger,
Smith with a 4,700 break. Brian
Carpenter edged Dave Mackay 1,690-1,640
for the Plough, before Mackay & Smith
(3,090) took the first doubles. Karen
Keen & Carpenter (1,130) won for the
Plough, with Smith & Edwards (3,020)
securing the match for Betteshanger.
In an all-Deal match, the Brickmakers A
won 5-1 away to the Magnet B. Donna
Prior (2,350) put the Magnet ahead, but
successes for Ann Garlinge (1,540) and
Paul Garlinge (4,040) reversed the
advantage. All three doubles went to
the Brickies, Paul Garlinge & Ann
Garlinge (3,520) high-scoring.
