In the Dover, Deal & District Bar Billiards
League the Plough & Harrow from Bridge have
moved top after a 4-2 away win at the
Betteshanger Alma Lions. Baz Symes (4,470),
Keith Symes (3,360) and Ian Dennett (5,220)
swept the singles for the Bridge side, but
successive doubles wins for Neville Potts &
Wack Sampson (4,700) and Tim Hayes & Potts
(4,560) put Betteshanger back in the match.
Dennett & Baz Symes (4,700) clinched the
deciding frame to continue their side’s
impressive campaign.
The Royal Oak are second after drawing 3-3
away to defending champions Chantry in
Canterbury. John Fullager (3,650) and Kevin
Kay (4,850) put the Chantry ahead, but Mark
Graves (2,870) gave the Nonington side a
point. Graves & Steve Lake (3,520) and Lake &
Roger Oldfield (1,900) put the Oak in front,
but Kay & Fullager (2,680) salvaged the draw.
The Two Sawyers drew 3-3 in Woolage Green with
the Market Inn A from Sandwich. Stuart
Richardson (2,100) put the home team ahead,
but successes for Craig Carlson (5,240) and
Derek Latham (3,610) altered the advantage in
the Market’s favour. Richard Cousens & Alan
Smith (5,490) levelled the match, before
Latham & John Skinner (4,020) put the visitors
back in front. Paul Henley & Richardson
(3,140) took the final leg to force the draw.
In Division Two, the Market Inn B drew 3-3
with the Plough & Harrow A from Tilmanstone,
leaving the Plough at the top of the table
with the Sandwich side second. Dave Carliell
(2080) put the Market Inn B ahead, Karen Keen
edged Gareth Butcher 2,140-1,850 to level,
before Alan Farra (3,010) regained the Market
lead. Butcher & Carliell (3,020) took the
first doubles, but a Plough fight-back saw
victories for Ann Keen & Karen Keen (4,000)
and Ron Beer & Ann Keen (3,030) to gain the
draw
