The Winter League in the Dover, Deal & District Bar Billiards League is under way, and defending champions Chantry Club beat the Betteshanger Lions 4-2.  Stan Brocklebank (5,810) and John Fullager (3,520) won for the Chantry, Neville Potts (5,800) for Betteshanger.  The Chantry took two of the doubles for the match, the last by Fullager & Kevin Kay (5,380).

The Royal Oak defeated the Market Inn from Sandwich 4-2 in Nonington.  Steve Lake (3,210) and Nigel Scott (2,290) won two close singles, Mark Graves (4,290) completing the clean-sweep for the home side.  John Skinner & Derek Latham (3,940) then Craig Carlson & Skinner (2,420) fought-back for the Market, but Scott & Roger Oldfield (4,530) sealed the victory.

The Magnet, Deal drew 3-3 at home to the Two Sawyers from Woolage Green.  Gary Clarke (5,100) and Stuart Richardson (7,950) put the Sawyers ahead, before Mike Callanan (6,520) won for the Magnet.  John Higgens & Lin Callanan (4,230) and Mike Callanan & Higgens (4,550) put the Magnet in front, before Alan Smith & Richard Cousens (5,570) forced the draw.

 

In Division Two, relegated Market Inn B won 6-0 at home to the Plough & Harrow B, Tilmanstone.  Gareth Butcher (2,900), Dave Carliell (3,610) and Alan Farra (5,890) took all the singles, and then the Sandwich side won all three doubles, the highest-scoring 4,270 by Farra & Butcher.

The Brickmakers B defeated the Brickmakers A 5-1 in Deal.  Warren Cowdrey (1,690), Dave Howarth (3,130) and Ricky Cowdrey (1,410) took the singles for the B, followed by two of the doubles, the A’s point coming for Craig Lancaster & Paul Garlinge (1,940).

The Plough & Harrow A, Tilmanstone defeated the Magnet B 5-1.  Karen Keen (2,520) and Ann Keen (4,420) won for the Plough, with Shirley Cowdrey (2,340) successful for the Magnet.  The Plough took all three doubles, Karen & Ann Keen high-scoring with 4,170.
