Herewith the Dover, Deal & District Bar Billiards League report for this week.  Next week is our league's AGM, and the Winter League is due to start in 2 or 3 weeks, so there will be no reports until then:-

The Market Inn from Sandwich are the bar billiards Summer League Champions, after their 5-1 home victory against the Plough & Harrow A from Tilmanstone.  Brian Carpenter beat Ted Hogben 2,930-2,000 to put the Plough in front, but two close Market Inn victories followed, as Derek Latham edged Ron Beer 3,500-2,840 and Gareth Butcher potted the last ball down the 200 to beat Ann Keen 2,050-1,970.  The Market Inn controlled the doubles with victories for Butcher & Dave Carliell (4,110), Craig Carlson & Latham (5,730) and Carliell & Carlson (5,400) to secure the match and the league title.

In an all-Deal match, the Brickmakers Arms A beat the Magnet A 5-1, leaving the Magnet as runners-up.  Ann Garlinge defeated Mike Callanan 1,350-1,200, followed by further Brickies wins for Chris Gent (2,410) and Craig Lancaster (1,690).  Lancaster & Paul Garlinge (1,660) took the first doubles and the match, but John Higgens & Lin Callanan edged Gent & Paul Garlinge 2,190-1,990 for the Magnet’s point.  Ann Garlinge & Paul Garlinge (2,040) took the final game for the Brickies.

The Brickmakers Arms B enjoyed a 6-0 away win to the Magnet B, to finish third-place.  Warren Cowdrey (2,750) and Ricky Cowdrey (2,920) put the Brickies ahead, followed by a close 1,670-1,320 win for Dave Howarth against Donna Prior.  Warren Cowdrey & Howarth (3,250) took the first doubles and the match, followed by success for Howarth & Ricky Cowdrey (2,150) and Ricky & Warren Cowdrey (2,980
