The
Market Inn from Sandwich beat the Magnet B from Deal
6-0 to strengthen their grip on the Summer League.
Craig Carlson (6,550), Derek Latham (3,560) and Gareth
Butcher (3,460) took the singles, and Latham & Butcher
beat Donna Prior & Dawn Williams 3,180-1,700 in the
first doubles to secure the match. Butcher & Dave
Carliell (2,860) and Carliell & Carlson (2,530) won
the last two games.
The
Brickmakers Arms B from Deal drew 3-3 at home to
second-placed Plough & Harrow B from Tilmanstone.
Warren Cowdrey (3,600) put the Brickies ahead, but
Harry Pearson (1,750) and Gerald Gilbert (4,370) both
won for the Plough. Luke Smith & Ricky Cowdrey beat
Pearson & Brian Whitley 2,500-1,870 to level the
match, followed by success for Ricky Cowdrey & Warren
Cowdrey (3,380). Whitley & Gilbert beat Warren
Cowdrey & Smith 2,220-1,640 in the final leg to force
the draw.
The
Brickmakers Arms A won 4-2 away to the Plough & Harrow
A. Ann Keen (4,420) put the Plough in front, before
Chris Gent narrowly defeated Brian Carpenter
2,260-2,100 and Paul Garlinge edged Ron Beer
1,470-1,310 to give the Brickies team the lead. Beer
& Keen (3,620) levelled the match, but Craig Lancaster
& Ann Garlinge won their game 2,420-1,920 followed by
a 2,160-2,010 victory for Paul Garlinge & Lancaster
against Keen & Carpenter, to win the match.
