In Group A, the Betteshanger Alma Lions beat the Plough & Harrow A, Tilmanstone, 4-2 to remain top.  Good wins for Ann Keen (5,210) and Karen Keen (5,180) put the Plough 2-0 up, but Chris Saville (14,990) won for Betteshanger, courtesy of a 9,100 break.  A clean sweep of the doubles gave Betteshanger the match, via Wack Sampson & Saville (2,110), Saville & Potts (2,900) and Potts & Sampson (2,590).   In the final doubles, a break totalling 1500 by Wack Sampson put the Lions in a commanding position 1900 in front, but replies of 850 from both Brian Carpenter and Ann Keen put the P&H within 250 of a remarkable come back as the bar dropped, but it was not to be.

The Market Inn beat the Brickmakers B 5-1 in Sandwich.  Craig Carlson (4,800), Derek Latham (3,980) and Ted Hogben (1,710) put the Market 3-0 up, but Warren Cowdrey & Dawn Williams (2,080) took the first doubles for the Brickies.  Hogben & Carlson (2,880) and Latham & Hogben (2,040) wrapped up the points.

The Royal Oak (Nonington) defeated the Greyhound from Sandwich 5-1.  Gary Clarke (4,120), Stuart Richardson (3,650) and Alan Smith (6,990) took the singles, with Richard Cousens & Richardson (1,880) winning the first doubles and the match.  Alan Farra & Gareth Butcher (1,930) gained the Greyhound’s point, with Clarke & Cousens (2,490) finishing the evening.

In Group B, the Plough & Harrow B, Tilmanstone held leaders Plough & Harrow, Bridge 3-3.  Keith Symes (2,160) and Ian Dennett (2,940) won for the Plough Bridge, either side of a Tilmanstone victory for Gerald Gilbert (2,440).  Ken Keen & Harry Pearson (2,290) levelled in the first doubles, Keith Symes & Dennett (1,360) restored the Bridge lead, and finally Pearson & Gilbert (2,050) forced the draw.

The Chantry won 5-1 away to the Magnet A to close the gap at the top.  Stan Brocklebank (5,450) won for the Chantry, Mike Callanan (3,590) levelled, and Kevin Kay edged John Higgens 2,660-2,570 to restore the Chantry lead.  The Canterbury side took all the doubles, the final going to Fullager & Kay (3,070).
