In Group A,
the Betteshanger side won 4-2 at the Brickmakers B to remain
unbeaten. Warren Cowdrey (4,510) put the Brickies ahead, but
Neville Potts (9,100) and Wack Sampson (4,090) hit back.
Sampson & Potts (2,100) made it 3-1, before Cowdrey & Dawn
Williams (1,810) reduced the deficit. Chris Saville & Sampson
(1,730) won the final leg and the match.
The Greyhound
have moved second after defeating the Plough & Harrow A,
Tilmanstone, 4-2. Dave Carliell (2,170) and Alan Farra (4,880)
both won for the Greyhound, before a Plough success for Ann Keen
(3,430). Carliell & Gareth Butcher took the first doubles
2,280-1,910, followed victory for Christine & Alan Farra
(1,490), with Brian Carpenter & Ron Beer (2,310) taking the last
leg for the Plough.
The Royal Oak
defeated the Market Inn 4-2 in Nonington. Stuart Richardson
(2,290) put the Oak ahead, Derek Latham edged Gary Clarke
3,330-3,160 to level, and Alan Smith (5,180) restored the Oak’s
lead. Smith & Richard Cousens took first doubles 1,530-1,470,
before Cousens & Richardson (2,270) wrapped up the match. John
Laundrie & Craig Carlson (1,780) won the final game for the
Market.
In Group B,
the Plough & Harrow, Bridge beat the Chantry 4-2, to move seven
points clear. Stan Brocklebank (2,800) won for the Chantry, but
Plough victories for Keith Symes (2,560) and Ian Dennett (5,900)
put them ahead. Keith Symes & Dennett (2,930) took the first
doubles, John Fullager & Chris Cook (2,240) won for the Chantry,
and Dennett & Baz Symes (2,230) took the last leg and the match.
The Fitzwalter
Arms from Goodnestone won 4-2 away to the Plough & Harrow B,
Tilmanstone. Gerald Gilbert edged Steve Lake 1,350-1,150, Mark
Graves beat Ken Keen 2,400-2,300 to level for the Fitz, and
Roger Oldfield (2,970) put the visitors ahead. Nigel Scott &
Oldfield (1,950) extended their lead, Keen & Gilbert (1,300) won
for the Plough, and finally Graves & Scott (1,650) ensured the
match victory.
