In Group A, The
Betteshanger Alma Lions recorded a 5-1 home win over second-placed
Market Inn. Chris Saville (10,520), Wack Sampson (3,300) and
Neville Potts (7,430) swept the singles, and Saville & Sampson
(1,860) secured the match in the first doubles. Craig Carlson &
Ted Hogben (1,360) took the next leg for the Market Inn, with
Potts & Saville (2,240) winning the last.
The Royal Oak
travelled to Tilmanstone and emerged 4-2 winners against the
Plough & Harrow A. Stuart Richardson (3,070) and Alan Smith
(6,670) took the first two singles for the visitors, with Ann Keen
(3,840) pegging a point back. Triangles-doubles victories for
Smith & Gary Clarke (2,610) and Richard Cousens & Clarke (2,060)
ensured the match success, with Brian Carpenter & Karen Keen
(2,300) taking the final frame for the Plough.
In Group B, the
Chantry have moved top after defeating the Plough & Harrow B,
Tilmanstone, 5-1. John Fullager (4,660), Stan Brocklebank (4,660)
and Kevin Kay (4,190) took the singles for the Canterbury side,
but Phil Court & Harry Pearson (1,840) won the first doubles for
the Plough. Fullager & Brocklebank (1,720) and Kay & Fullager
(2,020) gained the remaining legs.
The Magnet A
beat the Fitzwalter Arms 5-1 in Deal. Ward Griffiths (2,680) took
the first leg, before narrow wins as Mike Callanan defeated Roger
Oldfield 3,920-3,540, and John Higgens edged Mark Graves
1,840-1,730. Lin Callanan & Griffiths (1,820) secured the match
for the Magnet in the first doubles, Higgens & Lin Callanan
(2,030) also won, before Oldfield & Scott won 1,860-1,780 for a
point to the Fitz.
