In Group A, The
Betteshanger Alma Lions won 5-1 away at the Greyhound. Dave
Carliell (3,140) took the first leg after a 2,020 break, which
proved the Greyhound’s only point. Chris Saville (4,460) and Wack
Sampson (2,670) took the other singles, Neville Potts & Saville
(2,010) took the first triangles-doubles, Saville & Sampson (1,700)
secured the match, and Sampson & Potts (2,400) won the last leg.
The Market Inn
remain second after a 3-3 draw at home to the Plough & Harrow A,
Tilmanstone. In a match of two halves, the Plough took all the
singles, Ann Keen (4,480) and Brian Carpenter (2,110) both won
before Karen Keen defeated Derek Latham 4,300-4,270 after sinking
the last ball down the 100 hole. The Market Inn turned things
around with doubles victories for Craig Carlson & John Laundrie,
Latham & Carlson (2,860) and Laundrie & Latham (2,310).
The Royal Oak and
the Brickmakers B drew 3-3 in Nonington. Alan Smith (4,710) won for
the Oak, before Ricky Cowdrey (2,010) and Warren Cowdrey (3,130)
were both successful for the team from Deal. Gary Clarke & Stuart
Richardson (3,200) levelled for the home side, Richardson & Smith
(2,400) then put them ahead, before Warren Cowdrey & Dawn Williams
(1,580) took the last leg to grab the draw.
In Group B, the
Fitzwalter Arms inflicted a rare defeat on leaders Chantry, winning
4-2. Steve Lake (3,950) and Roger Oldfield (3,190) put the Fitz 2-0
up, before John Fullager (7,750) salvaged a point for the visitors.
Lake & Nigel Scott (2,280) took the first doubles, Fullager & Kevin
Kay (2,010) pulled a point back for the Chantry, but Mark Graves &
Scott (2,700) clinched the last leg and the match for the Fitz.
