In Group A, the
Betteshanger Alma Lions defeated Deal rivals Brickmakers B 5-1.
Wins for Wack Sampson (4,190), Neville Potts (6,570) and Chris Saville
(8,560) put the home side in front, and the first two doubles also went
their way, including an impressive triangles-fettered 3,670 for Sampson
& Potts. Rick & Shirley Cowdrey (2,300) took the last leg for the
Brickies.
The Market Inn beat
the Royal Oak from Nonington 4-2. John Laundrie won 2,140-2030 for
the Sandwich side, before Oak victories for Stuart Richardson (1,420)
and Alan Smith (5,920). All three doubles went to the Market, via
Laundrie & John Skinner (3,280), Skinner & Craig Carlson (1,170) and
Carlson & Laundrie (1,900).
The Greyhound won 4-2
away to the Plough & Harrow A, Tilmanstone, on a good day for the
Sandwich teams. Karen Keen sank the last ball down the 200 to beat
Gareth Butcher 2,860-2,840, before Greyhound successes for Dave Carliell
(1,600) and Alan Farra (4,910). Alan & Christine Farra (2,220)
took the first doubles, Brian Carpenter & Ann Keen (1,930) won for the
Plough, before Butcher & Christine Farra (2,810) captured the match.
In Group B, the
Chantry beat the Plough & Harrow, Bridge 4-2. Chris Cook (6,730)
and Kevin Kay (5,770) put the Chantry ahead, before a Plough win for
Keith Symes (6,170). John Fullager & Stan Brocklebank (1,500) won,
Ian Dennett & Baz Symes (2,120) took another point for the Plough, and
Brocklebank & Kay (2,180) took the last leg.
The Fitzwalter Arms
defeated the Plough & Harrow B, Tilmanstone 4-2. Steve Lake
(1,740) and Mark Graves (1,660) won for the Fitz, before Harry Pearson
edged Roger Oldfield 2,350-2,340. Lake & Nigel Scott (2,030) took
the first doubles, Gerald Gilbert & Ken Keen (1,630) won for the Plough,
and Graves & Scott (1,910) wrapped up the victory.
