The
Chantry from
Canterbury
edged closer to the title with a 3-3 draw at the
Royal
Oak
,
Nonington. Stuart Richardson (4,550) and
Alan Smith (4,260) both won for the Oak, and
John Fullager (5,390) won for the visitors.
Smith & Gary Clarke (4,220) put the Oak 3-1
up, before Fullager & Stan Brocklebank
(5,060) and Chris Cook & Brocklebank (2,660)
forced the draw.
The
Betteshanger Lions challenge faltered with a 3-3
draw at home to the Market Inn. Chris
Saville beat Derek Latham 6,690-5,960, both
players scoring from their only visits to the
table. Craig Carlson (4,690) levelled for
the Market Inn, and Neville Potts (5,320)
restored the Betteshanger lead. Potts
& Saville (7,570) took the first doubles,
before victories for Latham & Ted Hogben
(4,460) and Carlson & Latham (4,100) earned
the draw.
The
Plough & Harrow, Bridge defeated the
Fitzwalter Arms 4-2. Ian Dennett (10,600)
and Baz Symes (4,760) both won, with Mark
Graves
(3,940) winning for the Fitz. Graves &
Nigel Scott (3,850) levelled, before victories
for Keith Symes & Dennett (4,450) and
Dennett & Baz Symes (5,540) gained the
match.
The
Magnet A are champions of Division Two after a
4-2 victory away to the Plough & Harrow A,
Tilmanstone. Mike Callanan (3,170) and
John Higgens (3,840) both won, either side of a
Plough point for Karen Keen (1,750).
Higgens & Lin Callanan (3,620) and Lin &
Mike Callanan (3,320) ensured the match victory,
with Karen Keen & Brian Carpenter taking the
last game.
Honours
finished even as the Brickmakers B drew 3-3 with
the Brickmakers A. In a game of two
halves, Paul Garlinge (1,730), Ann Garlinge
(2,000) and Craig Lancaster (1,270) took the
singles for the A. In a reversal of
fortune, all the doubles went to the B via Dawn
Williams & Dave Howarth (2,040), Cowdrey
& Williams (1,650) and Howarth & Cowdrey
(2,920).
