In Division One, the Chantry from Canterbury have edged to the top after a 4-2 win away to the Plough & Harrow in Bridge.  Keith Symes (4,700) put the Plough ahead, before Chantry successes for Stan Brocklebank (5,090) and John Fullager (10,830).  Ian Dennett & Baz Symes (5,490) took the first doubles for the Plough, before Brocklebank & Chris Cook (5,490) moved the Chantry back in front.  Kevin Kay & Cook beat Keith Symes & Dennett 5,750-5,670 after Cook sank the last ball down the 200 hole for the match.

The Betteshanger Alma Lions drew 3-3 with Royal Oak to drop to second.  Chris Saville (9,370) won for Betteshanger, Alan Smith (9,370) levelled, and Neville Potts (8,990) regained the lead.  These games saw breaks of 5,990, 5,890 and 5,550 for the winners respectively.  Smith & Richard Cousens (3,790) again made the match all-square, Wack Sampson & Saville (6,700) put the home side in front, and finally Stuart Richardson & Smith (5,100) forced the draw for the Oak.

An all-Sandwich match saw the Market Inn win 4-2 away to rivals the Greyhound.  Derek Latham (7,610) and Craig Carlson (7,670) both won for the visitors, hitting breaks of 3,900 and 3,600 respectively, and Ted Hogben (3,210) completed the clean sweep of the singles.  The first leg saw Gareth Butcher & Dave Carliell win 5,540-3,700, the excellent Carliell hitting two 1,800 breaks for the Greyhound.  Latham & Carlson (7,020) ensured the match victory for the Market, with Carliell & Alan Farra (4,080) taking the last leg for the Greyhound

In Division Two, the Plough & Harrow A, Tilmanstone lost to pub rivals Plough & Harrow B Tilmanstone 6-0.  This result is a crushing blow to the Plough A’s title hopes, leaving the Magnet A within touching distance of an immediate promotion.  Phil Court (1,750), Gerald Gilbert (4,070) and Harry Pearson (2,050) all won their singles, and the match was decided in the first doubles as Pearson & Court (2,830) took their match.  Gilbert & Pearson (3,160) won the penultimate leg, with the closest game being the last as Court & Gilbert defeated Ann Keen & Karen Keen 2,430-2,030.

The Brickmakers Arms B enjoyed a 5-1 success at home to fellow Deal team Magnet B.  Ricky Cowdrey (2,940) put the Brickies ahead before Chris Gent (2,170) levelled.  Gent won his first singles in six attempts last week, and will be glad to make it two wins on the trot.  Warren Cowdrey (4,140) restored the Brickies advantage in the final singles game.  Dave Howarth & Shirley Cowdrey (2,420) took the first doubles, and the match was decided in the next leg as Warren Cowdrey & Howarth beat Gent & Tanya Philpott 2,220-1,770, with Ricky Cowdrey & Howarth (2,150) completing the victory.
