In
Division One, the Betteshanger Alma Lions team remain
unbeaten after an impressive 5-1 victory away to the
Plough & Harrow, Bridge. Neville Potts
(5,490), Wack Sampson (2,380) and Chris Saville
(8,380) took the singles for Betteshanger, Potts
hitting a break of 3,550 and Saville 5,000.
Keith Symes & Ian Dennett beat Saville & Potts
5,300-4,900 for the Plough’s point in the first
doubles, with the Deal team taking the final two. The
Chantry are second after a 4-2 win away to the
Fitzwalter Arms. Mark Graves defeated John
Fullager 7,070-4,100 after an opening 4,910 break, but
Kevin Kay (2,460) and Stan Brocklebank (4,170) took
the next two legs for the Chantry. The
Canterbury side gained the first two doubles, Fullager
& Kay’s 6,160 ensuring the match, with Steve
Lake & Nigel Scott (4,530) winning for the Fitz. The
In
Division Two, leaders Magnet A beat the Plough &
Harrow B, Tilmanstone 5-1. Mike Callanan (6,870)
won, followed by narrow Magnet victories for John
Higgens (2,860-2,650 against Harry Pearson) and Ward
Griffiths (1,260-1,220 over Gerald Gilbert).
Pearson & Phil Court (2,600) gained the Plough’s
point in the doubles, with the Deal side taking the
other two. The
Plough & Harrow A, Tilmanstone defeated the
Brickmakers B 5-1 to remain second. Karen Keen
(2,280) and Ann Keen (2,600) both won for the Plough,
with Dave Howarth (2,790) winning for the Brickies.
All three doubles went to the play for the match
