In Division One, the Betteshanger Club move top after a resounding 6-0 win at home to the Greyhound.  Wack Sampson (3,090) won, as did Chris Saville (13,220) who hit two 6,500 breaks.  Tim Hayes defeated Gareth Butcher 5,210-4,300 in the final singles.  Saville & Hayes defeated Alan Farra & Butcher 5,890-4,920 in the first doubles, followed by victories for Sampson & Saville (5,340) and Hayes & Sampson (5,870).  The three pairs games aggregated 28,000 pts, with the Greyhound side unlucky to go home pointless.

The Royal Oak from Nonington have moved off the bottom after a 5-1 away win against the Fitzwalter Arms, Goodnestone.  In the three singles, Stuart Richardson defeated Nigel Scott 2,050-1,720, with further Oak victories for Gary Clarke (3,760) and Alan Smith (3,650).  Richardson & Smith (4,660) secured the match victory, but Steve Lake & Mark Graves (6,280) took the next leg for the Fitz, with Smith & Clarke (6,240) wrapping up the evening.

 

In Division Two, leaders Magnet A beat the Magnet B 5-1.  John Higgens (6,360) won courtesy of a 4,210 break, Lin Callanan edged Tanya Philpott 1,490-1,250, and Mike Callanan (11,040) continued the Magnet A successes, including a 5,390 break.  Ward Griffiths & Higgens (4,560) made the match secure, before Steve Philpott & Chris Gent (3,050) picked the Magnet B’s point.  Mike Callanan & Griffiths won the final game 1,560-1,420 for the A.

The Plough & Harrow B, Tilmanstone defeated the Brickmakers Arms A 6-0.  Harry Pearson (1,700), Ken Keen (2,040) and Gerald Gilbert (1,360) swept the singles for the Plough, with Pearson & Keen (3,660) combining in the first doubles to make safe the bonus points.  The Plough side’s successes continued, with further victories for Gilbert & Pearson (2,260) and Ken & Gilbert (2,340).
