The Chantry’s impressive start to the season continues after their latest victory, 5-1 away to the Greyhound in
Sandwich .  John Fullager (5,540) put the Chantry Club ahead, before Gareth Butcher (4,980) levelled for the Greyhound, courtesy of a 3,320 break.  Stan Brocklebank defeated Dave Carliell 2,980-2,080 in the final singles to re-establish the Canterbury side’s lead.  Kevin Kay & Brocklebank (3,570) took the first doubles, before Brocklebank & Fullager just beat Farra & Carliell 3,670-3,580, despite Farra’s 1,930 break, as Fullager replied with 1,660.  Fullager & Kay (6,440) wrapped up the evening to win the final frame.

The Plough & Harrow from Bridge beat the Royal Oak 4-2 for their first win of the season.  Ian Dennett (5,240) put the Plough ahead, before Alan Smith (5,460) levelled for the Nonington side.  Baz Symes (8,280) gained the final singles for the home side, courtesy of a 5,750 break.  Dennett & Baz Symes (5,240) increased the Plough advantage, but Richard Cousens & Stuart Richardson (3,880) pegged a point back for the Royal Oak .  Baz Symes & Keith Symes (4,690) took the crucial final leg to ensure the match victory for the Plough.

Honours were even in Goodnestone where the Fitzwalter Arms and the Market Inn drew 3-3.  Roger Oldfield defeated Ted Hogben 4,930-3,930 with a late break, but Derek Latham (4,440) pulled the match level for the Sandwich side.  Mark Graves beat Craig Carlson 3,160-2,960 in a close final singles to put the Fitz back in front.  Carlson & Hogben defeated Oldfield & Steve Lake 4,180-3,810 in the first doubles, but the Fitz again went ahead in winning the next doubles via Lake & Graves (2,330).  Hogben & Latham edged Nigel Scott & Lake 2,380-1,900 in the final game to force the draw.

 

In Division Two, an all-deal match was won 5-1 by the Magnet A against the Brickmakers Arms A, leaving the Magnet A clear at the top.  Mike Callanan (7,360) and John Higgens (4,550) put the Magnet A 2-0 up, but Ann Garlinge (1,960) pulled a point back for the Brickies.  Higgens & Lin Callanan (4,050) took the first doubles, followed by a win for Lin Callanan & Ward Griffiths (2,470) to clinch the match.  Mike Callanan & Lin Callanan defeated Paul Garlinge & Craig Lancaster 2,170-1,640 in the final game of the evening.

The Plough & Harrow A, Tilmanstone beat the Magnet B 5-1.  Ann Keen (1,940) Karen Keen (2,920) and Brian Carpenter (2,830) swept the singles for the Plough, and Carpenter & Ann Keen beat Chris Gent & Steve Philpott 2,140-1,660 in the first doubles to ensure the match victory.  Steve Philpott & Justin Philpott (4,310) picked up a consolation point for the Magnet B in the next leg, but Ann Keen & Karen Keen (3,640) won the final game for the Plough & Harrow A.
