With one round of fixtures remaining, the Plough & Harrow from Bridge are Summer League champions after trouncing the Brickmakers Arms B 6-0.  Baz Symes beat Dave Howarth 3,600-2,660, followed be a narrow 3,470-3,270 victory for Ian Dennett against Rick Cowdrey, Dennett snatching the win with the last two shots.  Keith Symes (4,650) took the final singles, and impressive performances from the Plough in all the doubles saw further successes for Dennett & Baz Symes (5,260), Baz Symes & Keith Symes (5,610) and Keith Symes & Dennett (5,210).  Congratulations to the Plough & Harrow for a deserved Summer League title.

The Magnet A beat the deposed champions the Market Inn 4-2, keeping their hopes of the runners-up spot alive.  The first singles saw John Higgens beat Derek Latham 4,900-2,630, after Higgens opened with a 1,850 break, Latham responded with 1,900, and Higgens then hit another near maximum 2,000 break, of 1,980.  Craig Carlson (3,000) levelled the match for the Market Inn, before Mike Callanan (2,180) restored the Magnet A lead.  Ward Griffiths & Mike Callanan (3,670) took the first doubles, and Higgens & Griffiths won a close leg against Dave Carliell & Carlson 2,750-2,410 to ensure the match victory.  Latham & Gareth Butcher (6,230) won the final frame for the Market Inn.

The Plate competition saw the Plough & Harrow A, Tilmanstone, move top after beating the Magnet B 4-2.  Ann Keen (5,710) put the Plough ahead, and Ron Beer increased their advantage after a narrow 2,000-1,790 victory against Justin Philpott.  Tanya Philpott (2,690) took the final singles for the Magnet B.  Keen & Beer (2,960) won the first doubles, followed by further success for the Plough via Brian Carpenter & Beer (2,690).  The final leg saw a good win for Steve Philpott & Chris Gent (4,560).

The Brickmakers Arms A won 5-1 against the Plough & Harrow B, Tilmanstone, knocking the Plough B team off the top of the table.  The Brickies swept the singles with victories for Ann Garlinge (2,080), Paul Garlinge (1,730) and Alan Holmwood (1,280).  A close first doubles was eventually won 1,730-1,640 by Paul Garlinge & Holmwood against Ken Keen & Gerald Gilbert, to ensure the match victory for the Brickies.  Harry Pearson & Keen (2,840) won the next doubles for the Plough B point, but the final leg was won by Ann Garlinge & Paul Garlinge (1,630).  This setback leaves the Plough & Harrow B one point behind their A team, and the two sides meet in the final match next Tuesday with the Plate title at stake.
