P&H Tilmanstone B 1.
With
one round of fixtures remaining, the Plough & Harrow
from Bridge are Summer League champions after trouncing the
Brickmakers Arms B 6-0.
Baz Symes beat Dave Howarth 3,600-2,660, followed be
a narrow 3,470-3,270 victory for Ian Dennett against Rick
Cowdrey, Dennett snatching the win with the last two shots.
Keith Symes (4,650) took the final singles, and
impressive performances from the Plough in all the doubles
saw further successes for Dennett & Baz Symes (5,260),
Baz Symes & Keith Symes (5,610) and Keith Symes &
Dennett (5,210). Congratulations
to the Plough & Harrow for a deserved Summer League
title. The
Magnet A beat the deposed champions the Market Inn 4-2,
keeping their hopes of the runners-up spot alive.
The first singles saw John Higgens beat Derek Latham
4,900-2,630, after Higgens opened with a 1,850 break, Latham
responded with 1,900, and Higgens then hit another near
maximum 2,000 break, of 1,980.
Craig Carlson (3,000) levelled the match for the
Market Inn, before Mike Callanan (2,180) restored the Magnet
A lead. Ward
Griffiths & Mike Callanan (3,670) took the first
doubles, and Higgens & Griffiths won a close leg against
Dave Carliell & Carlson 2,750-2,410 to ensure the match
victory. Latham
& Gareth Butcher (6,230) won the final frame for the
Market Inn. The
Plate competition saw the Plough & Harrow A, Tilmanstone,
move top after beating the Magnet B 4-2.
Ann Keen (5,710) put the Plough ahead, and Ron Beer
increased their advantage after a narrow 2,000-1,790 victory
against Justin Philpott.
Tanya Philpott (2,690) took the final singles for the
Magnet B. Keen
& Beer (2,960) won the first doubles, followed by
further success for the Plough via Brian Carpenter &
Beer (2,690). The
final leg saw a good win for Steve Philpott & Chris Gent
(4,560). The
Brickmakers Arms A won 5-1 against the Plough & Harrow
B, Tilmanstone, knocking the Plough B team off the top of
the table. The
Brickies swept the singles with victories for Ann Garlinge
(2,080), Paul Garlinge (1,730) and Alan Holmwood (1,280).
A close first doubles was eventually won 1,730-1,640
by Paul Garlinge & Holmwood against Ken Keen &
Gerald Gilbert, to ensure the match victory for the Brickies.
Harry Pearson & Keen (2,840) won the next doubles
for the Plough B point, but the final leg was won by Ann
Garlinge & Paul Garlinge (1,630).
This setback leaves the Plough & Harrow B one
point behind their A team, and the two sides meet in the
final match next Tuesday with the Plate title at stake. |
