The Plough & Harrow from Bridge remain top of the Summer League with two fixtures remaining, after a 4-2 win at the Magnet A, Deal.  Mike Callanan (4,930) initially put the Magnet A ahead, but Keith Symes (5,100) and Ian Dennett (5,970) both won to reverse the advantage in favour of the visitors.  Mike Callanan & Lin Callanan (4,940) took the first doubles to level the match, but Keith Symes & Dennett (3,060) restored the Plough lead in the penultimate leg.  Dennett & Baz Symes beat Lin Callanan & Ward Griffiths 3,530-2,740 in the last game to claim the match victory.

The Market Inn from Sandwich won 5-1 at home to the Brickmakers Arms B from Deal, to maintain their challenge at the top.  Craig Carlson (3,100) took the first leg for the Market Inn after an opening 1,930 break, but Rick Cowdrey (1,630) levelled for the Brickies.  Gareth Butcher (3,940) restored the lead for the Market Inn after a 1,830 break, close to the maximum 2,000.  The first doubles saw Butcher & Dave Carliell (5,990) victorious, with breaks of 1,890 for Butcher and 1,860 for Carliell.  The final two doubles also went to the Market Inn with successes for Ted Hogben & Carlson (4,750) and Carlson & Butcher (4,190).

 

In the Plate competition, the Plough & Harrow B, Tilmanstone, have moved top after a 4-2 win at home to the Magnet B.  Harry Pearson (2,830) and Phil Court (3,090) put the Plough 2-0, but Steve Philpott (1,900) took the final singles for the Deal team.  All three doubles were close, as first Court & Gerald Gilbert defeated Tanya Philpott & Justin Philpott 2,170-1,650, and then Pearson & Court beat Chris Gent & Justin Philpott 3,470-3,000 to put the match beyond doubt.  Steve Philpott & Justin Philpott won the last leg 3,470-2,820 for a deserved second point to the Magnet B.

The Brickmakers Arms A drew with the Plough & Harrow A, Tilmanstone, a result which leaves the Plough 4 points adrift of their B team.  Paul Garlinge edged Brian Carpenter 1,830-1,750 to put the Brickies ahead, but the Plough fought back with victories for Ann Keen (3,030) and Ron Beer (2,210).  Paul Garlinge & Ann Garlinge won a close doubles 1,960-1,700 against Keen & Brian Carpenter, and Craig Lancaster & Paul Garlinge (2,520) maintained that form in the next leg to put the Brickies in front.  Carpenter & Beer (2,650) won the crucial final leg to force the draw.
