In the Summer League, the Plough & Harrow from Bridge won 5-1 away to the Brickmakers Arms B in Deal, to further strengthen their position at the top.  Ian Dennett beat Rick Cowdrey 4,310-3,750, Keith Symes (3,420) extended the Plough lead, and Baz Symes defeated Shirley Cowdrey 2,150-1,610 to make it 3-0.  The first doubles saw Rick Cowdrey & Shirley Cowdrey (3,220) successful, after a maximum 2,000 break from Rick Cowdrey.  Keith Symes & Dennett (5,420) took the penultimate leg, and Dennett & Baz Symes won the last game 5,990-3,390.

The Market Inn from Sandwich maintained their challenge after a 4-2 win at home to the Magnet A.  Derek Latham (3,230) and Gareth Butcher (1,990) both won for the Market Inn, either side of a Magnet A victory for Mike Callanan (4,290).  Craig Carlson & Dave Carliell (3,360) took the first doubles, but Mike Callanan & John Higgens (5,150) then gained another point for the Magnet, courtesy of two maximum 2,000 breaks from Callanan.  Butcher & Carlson defeated Lin Callanan & Ward Griffiths 3,190-2,140 in the final leg to secure the match victory.

 

The Plough & Harrow A, Tilmanstone, remain top of the Plate competition after a 4-2 win away to the Magnet B in Deal.  Tanya Philpott (2,110) put the Magnet B ahead, Ann Keen (3,300) levelled the match, and Steve Philpott required the last ball to edge Ron Beer 1,980-1,950 and restore the Magnet B lead.  Brian Carpenter & Keen (3,050) took the first doubles, Keen & Beer (3,460) put the Plough in front for the first time, and finally Beer & Carpenter beat Tanya Philpott & Chris Gent 2,420-1,530 to secure the bonus points.

The Plough & Harrow B, Tilmanstone, won impressively 6-0 at home to the Brickmakers Arms A.  Harry Pearson edged Paul Garlinge 2,250-2,000, before Gerald Gilbert (2,780) and Ken Keen (2,820) also won their singles for the Plough.  Keen & Gilbert just beat Craig Lancaster & Paul Garlinge 2,500-2,440, despite Garlinge hitting a 1,500 break, in the first doubles.  Another close doubles saw Pearson & Keen edge Ann Garlinge & Lancaster 2,610-2,140, and Gilbert & Pearson (2,060) wrapped up the evening.
