In Group A, the Plough & Harrow A, Tilmanstone have edged top after a 4-2 win away to the Magnet B.  Ron Beer (700) put the plough ahead, but only after Chris Gent black-pegged after the bar had dropped and when leading clearly.  Steve Philpott (1,970) levelled the match, before Ann Keen (3,080) restored the lead for the visitors.  Gent & Steve Philpott (3,040) again restored parity, but the next two doubles went to the Plough with victories for Beer & Brian Carpenter (2,710) and Carpenter & Keen (2,700).

The Market Inn beat the Magnet A 4-2 in the other match of Group A.  Craig Carlson beat John Higgens 3,630-2,660 for the Market Inn, but Mike Callanan (2,380) levelled for the Magnet.  Derek Latham (3,460) took the final singles to put the Sandwich side back in front.  Ward Griffiths & Mike Callanan (3,660) took the first doubles, before Latham & Ted Hogben beat Lin Callanan & Griffiths 3,730-2,270.  Gareth Butcher & Dave Carliell (2,460) took the deciding final frame for the Market Inn.

 

In Group B, the Plough & Harrow from Bridge won 4-2 away to the Brickmakers Arms A in Deal.  Keith Symes (2,130) put the Plough ahead, but Ann Garlinge defeated Baz Symes 2,080-1,840 to level the match.  Ian Dennett (3,020) took the final singles for the visitors.  Craig Lancaster & Paul Lancaster defeated Baz Symes & Keith Symes 3,260-3,070 in the first doubles to pull the match level, but the Plough & Harrow took the final two singles via victories for Dennett & Baz Symes (3,100) and Keith Symes & Dennett (3,420).

The Brickmakers B enjoyed a good 4-2 win away to the Plough & Harrow B, Tilmanstone.  Rick Cowdrey (1,970), Shirley Cowdrey (1,290) and Dave Howarth (2,920) swept the singles for the Brickies, but the first doubles saw a victory for Gerald Gilbert & Harry Pearson (4,130).  Pearson & Ken Keen (3,270) gave the Plough hope of salvaging a draw, but that was extinguished as Warren Cowdrey & Rick Cowdrey (2,130) took the final leg and the match.

 

There was also a match played on Thursday evening in Group A, and the Magnet B defeated the Market Inn 4-2.  Craig Carlson edged Tanya Philpott 1,980-1,620 in the first leg, but Chris Gent (1,540) levelled for the Magnet after Dave Carliell black-pegged when holding a crucial lead.  Steve Philpott defeated Ted Hogben 2,400-1,960 in the final singles to give the Deal team the lead.  The momentum for the magnet B continued into the doubles which saw victories for Gent & Lee Philpott (2,040) and Lee Philpott & Steve Philpott (2,020).  Hogben & Carlson (3,500) salvaged another point for the Market Inn in the final leg.
