In the Spring Cup, the Brickmakers Arm B continue to hang onto second place in Group A, despite being held to a 3-3 draw by the Magnet B.  Bill Edwards (6,510) and Warren Cowdrey (3,300) put the Brickies 2-0 up, before Tanya Philpott just beat Shirley Cowdrey 1,800-1,790 for the Magnet B.  Steve Philpott & Chris Gent (2,490) took the first triangles-rule doubles to level the tie, but Edwards & Rick Cowdrey (1,680) restored the lead for the home side.  Tanya Philpott & Gent (1,730) won the final game to ensure the all-Deal match finished all-square.
After a slow start to the season, the
Royal Oak from Nonington are emerging as challengers for second after a 4-2 victory at home to the Fitzwalter Arms.  Alan Smith (2,760) took the first singles for the Oak, but Roger Oldfield (3,820) and Steve Lake (1,530) then both won for the visitors from Goodnestone.  Some close doubles games all went to the Royal Oak , as Gary Clarke & Richard Cousens (2,340) levelled the match, Smith & Clarke edged Nigel Scott & Mark Graves 1,850-1,630, and finally Cousens & Smith defeated Lake & Scott 1,790-1,400 to grab the match victory.

In Group B, the bottom side Plough & Harrow B, Tilmanstone beat top of the table Market Inn 4-2 for their first win of the season.  Dorian Kinderman (2,220) put the Plough ahead, before Derek Latham (6,950) levelled, after breaks of 2,790 and 3,480.  John Laundrie beat Harry Pearson 2,170-1,920 in the final singles to give the
Sandwich side the lead.  Phil Court & Kinderman edged Laundrie & Ted Hogben 1,570-1,540 in the first triangles-fettered doubles, and Pearson & Kinderman (1,900) also took the next leg, including a break of 950 by Kinderman to complete an impressive debut.  Pearson & Court (2,410) won the final leg to gain the match victory.
The Magnet A strengthened their hopes of fourth place after beating the Plough & Harrow A, Tilmanstone 4-2.  Mike Callanan (5,180) and John Higgens (3,130) both won for the Magnet A either side of Plough point for Ann Keen (3,130).  Ward Griffiths & Mike Callanan (2,710) took the first doubles, followed by a win for Higgens & Griffiths (2,360) to wrap up the match victory.  Karen Keen & Brian Carpenter beat Lin Callanan & Griffiths 2,080-1,440 in the last game for the Plough's second point.
