In the Spring Cup Group A, the top of the table clash between the Alma Lions and the Brickmakers, Deal had to be played at the
Royal Oak at Nonington, and was won convincingly by the Alma side 5-1.  Chris Saville (11,660) started the match in impressive style with a break of 8,550 to defeat Dave Howarth, followed by wins from Kevin Pringle (7,550) thanks to his opening break of the same score, and the final singles game was won by Neville Potts (5,820) to put the Alma 3-0.  The first doubles game saw Saville & Pringle combine to record an excellent score of 3,250 in the triangles format, thanks mainly to a break of 1,070 by Pringle, which secured the overall win. The next doubles game saw Potts partner Wack Sampson (2,330) to another win, before the Brickmakers hit back in the last game with a win for Howarth & Rick Cowdrey (2,440).  This result now puts the Alma Lions 13 points clear at the top of Group A.

The Fitzwalter Arms and the Greyhound drew 3-3 in Goodnestone, and the sides now occupy 4th and 3rd respectively in the bid for a top four finish.  Roger Oldfield (3,070) put the Fitz ahead, but the Greyhound took the other two singles via Alan Farra (1,700) and Gareth Butcher (3,830).  All the doubles were close, as firstly Mark Graves & Steve Lake defeated Butcher & Christine Farra 1,990-1,680.  Christine Farra & Alan Farra snatched a 1,700-1,550 win against Oldfield & Graves in the next game, after Christine Farra potted the final red down the 200.  The final leg saw Nigel Scott & Graves edge Alan Farra & Butcher 1,630-1,380 to force the draw.

 

In Group B, the Plough & Harrow A from Tilmanstone drew 3-3 with the Plough & Harrow from Bridge, moving the Bridge side to the top.  Keith Symes (3,290) and Karen Keen (6,590) put the Plough Bridge in front, but Brian Carpenter (2,950) took the final singles for the Plough A Tilmanstone.  Karen Keen & Ann Keen narrowly defeated Dennett & Baz Symes 1,770-1,730, and Carpenter & Karen Keen (2,200) also won to give the home side the lead.  Baz Symes & Keith Symes (1,690) took the final frame to ensure the spoils were shared.

The Market Inn beat the Magnet A 5-1, and are now level on points at the top.  Craig Carlson (2,710) and Derek Latham (4,520) both won for the Sandwich side, either side of a Magnet A point for Mike Callanan (1,410).  Carlson & Latham won a close doubles 1,760-1,230 against John Higgens & Lin Callanan, and the final two games also went to the Market Inn with successes for John Laundrie & Carlson (2,410) and Latham & Laundrie (2,100).
