In Group A, the Plough & Harrow from Tilmanstone have qualified for the semi-finals with a 4-2 win at home to the Alma .  Ann Keen beat Shirley Cowdrey 2400-1700 to put the Plough in front, Dave Howarth (2450) then levelled the match, before Brian Carpenter (1890) re-established Plough supremacy.  A close first doubles was taken 3260-2800 by Carpenter & Ann Keen against Howarth & John Mitchell.  Shirley Cowdrey & Mitchell scored 4570 in the next doubles to give the Alma hope of a draw, but the final frame finished 3880-2980 for Ann & Karen Keen over Rick Cowdrey & Mitchell.

The Magnet A beat the Brickmakers Arms A 5-1, and are now in second place in the group.  Ward Griffiths (1900), Mike Callanan (2820) and John Higgins (2610) swept the singles before them, and Griffiths partnered Mike Callanan to win the first doubles and secure the bonus points.  Mike & Lin Callanan scored 3440 to win the next doubles, and the consolation point for the Brickies came courtesy of a 1480-1210 victory for Ann Garlinge & Craig Lancaster.  The Magnet’s final match is at rivals Alma, the Magnet A needing a draw to qualify – an Alma win will see them through to the semis instead.
