The Magnet A enjoyed a resounding 5-1 win away to the Brickmakers A to climb to the top of Group A.  The Brickies got off to the best start, however, as Craig Lancaster defeated Ward Griffiths by just 340 points.  John Higgens (2960) and Mike Callanan (4140) pulled the match in the Magnet direction in the last two singles, and Mike Callanan & Lin Callanan also won the first doubles.  After Griffiths & Mike Callanan scored 4160 the match was beyond doubt, but a closer final leg was taken 2890-2110 for Higgens & Lin Callanan against Lancaster & Paul Garlinge.

 

In Group B, the Market Inn moved to the summit after a 4-2 win away to the Magnet B.  Chris Gent scored 1690 to put the Magnet B ahead, but Gareth Butcher (2660) struck back for the Market Inn, followed by a 2720-2470 victory for Alan Farra over Steve Philpott.  A third successive leg was won by the Sandwich side as Butcher & Christine Farra scored 3870, but their run was halted as Tanya Philpott & Gent won 2440-2030.  The final frame, and the bonus points, was secured for the Market Inn as Dave Carliell & Butcher outscored their opponents
