The Chantry are through to the
Spring Cup final after defeating
the
Market
Inn
A
,
on the
Plough
& Harrow
Bridge
table. The singles were
won comfortably by the Chantry
with successes for Kevin Kay
(4340), John Fullager (8040) and
Mick Nichol (8880). The
match was put beyond doubt after
the first doubles as Nichol
& Kay beat Dave Carliell
& Gareth Butcher 3590-1860.
Butcher & Christine Farra
both compiled decent breaks as
they bested their opponents
2730-1980 for the Market Inn's
point, and the final frame went
to Kay & Fullager.
The Alma Lions will meet the
Chantry in the final after a 3-3
draw against the Plough &
Harrow from Bridge, which the
Alma
won on points average
27470-14330. Chris Saville
opened his singles with a 12900
break to put the
Alma
ahead, before Keith Symes (5830)
levelled the tie.
With Tim Hayes late, the
first doubles was played next,
in which Keith Symes played well
including a 950 triangles break,
as he & Ian Dennett put the
Plough in front. Hayes
played and won his singles next,
opening with an 8000 break to
square the match. Baz
Symes & Keith Symes took the
penultimate doubles, Keith Symes
scoring a 900 break. With
everything on the final pairs,
the Plough took an early lead,
but Wack Sampson knocked a 700
break, as he and Saville went on
to secure victory.
The Fitzwalter Arms booked their
place in the Plate final with a
4-2 win against the Brickmakers
B, on the Market Inn table.
Roger Oldfield (2650) put the
Fitz ahead, before Simon Jones
levelled matters with a narrow
2460-2400 victory over Mark
Graves.
Steve
Lake
regained the lead for the Fitz,
his 3590 the highest score of
the evening. The first
doubles went to Lake &
Graves to extend their lead, and
the next doubles decided the
match with Graves & Lisa
Goddard victorious. Simon
Jones & Simon Hart captured
the final frame for Brickies.
The Plough & Harrow from
Tilmanstone are also through
after beating the Brickmakers A
4-2. Karen Keen gave the
Plough the lead in defeating
Paul Garlinge 2720-2320, and Ann
Keen (5620) made it 2-0,
courtesy of a 3950 break.
Craig Lancaster (1510) took the
final singles to give the
Brickies A a glimmer of hope.
Ann Keen & Brian Carpenter
took the first doubles, and
Karen & Ann Keen then teamed
up to put the match beyond
doubt. Paul Garlinge &
Ann Garlinge won the final frame
for the second Brickmakers
point.
