In Group A, the Chantry won 5-1 away at the Magnet A, the Magnet's point enough to book their place in the Spring Cup quarter-final.  That point came courtesy of an 8880 knock from Mike Callanan in the singles, a win sandwiched between Chantry victories for John Fullager (3770) and Mick Nichol (5530).  After the first doubles fell to the
Canterbury side, an impressive 3390 for Fullager & Nichol secured the bonus points.  Nichol & Kevin Kay just edged Ward Griffiths & Callanan 1720-1660 in the final frame.
The Brickmakers A and B teams met, the B emerging 5-1 victors.  The B swept the singles via Nick Corck (4000), Simon Hart (2850) and Simon Jones (8440).  The B also won the first doubles, before the A team's point, Paul & Ann Garlinge scoring 1970.  Corck & Jones hit a noteworthy 3480 in the final doubles for the Brickies B.

In Group B, the Alma Lions beat the Butchers Arms 6-0, although the match was far closer.  Chris Saville (3150) beat Doug Vickers, but only after Vickers pegged on a 5600 break.  Terry Laslett beat Audrey Vickers 1880-1730 in a last-ball game, and Ted Batchelor (1900) won after losing 6000 early, but finishing with a 1500 break.
Alma captain Wack Sampson played and won all three doubles for maximum points.
The
Market Inn B defeated the Fitzwalter Arms 5-1, the Sandwich side booking their place in the quarterfinals, and consigning their opponents to the Plate competition.  Ted Hogben (3130) and John Skinner (2350) won singles for the Market Inn, either side of a Fitz victory for Roger Oldfield (3860).  After the first doubles went to the Market, the crucial fifth frame could not be closer as Craig Carlson potted the last ball down the 100 to enable he and Hogben to beat Oldfield & Carl Byford 1430-1410.  Derek Latham & Carlson scored 2560 to take the final frame.

The Plough & Harrow from Bridge finish top of Group C after a 4-2 win over the Alma B in Deal.  Bill Edwards (5620) gave the home side the lead, but the visitors took the next two as Baz Symes beat John Mitchell 5950-4900, and Keith Symes defeated Dave Howarth 9170-3630.  Harry Pearson & Rick Cowdrey picked up the first doubles to level matters, but again the Plough took the next two, Keith Symes & Ian Dennett (2590) winning the decisive final frame.
The Greyhound enjoyed a 4-2 victory at home to the Plough & Harrow from Tilmanstone.  Sam Fuller (1620) put the Greyhound ahead, Ann Keen (2790) levelled matters, and Daniel Jackson (6180) restored the
Sandwich team's lead, courtesy of a 3840 break.  Jackson & Fuller took the first doubles, and then secured their first victory of the Spring Cup with Dave McNeily & Jackson scoring 2530.  The final frame saw the Plough's second point, as Brian Carpenter & Karen Keen hit 2620.

The Market Inn A won the all-Sandwich as they defeated the Greyhound 5-1.  Dave McNeily (2620) collected the Greyhound’s point, in-between wins for Alan Farra (5460) and Gareth Butcher (4600).  Farra & Dave Carliell took the first doubles, and the bonus points were claimed as Butcher & Christine Farra scored 2580 to best their opponents, with the final leg following suit.
