The
Market Inn B kick-started their campaign with a 6-0 win at the Magnet B, in Group B.  Craig Carlson (3760) and Derek Latham (2810) took the first two points, before three successive close legs from which the Magnet B were unlucky to emerge empty-handed.  Ted Hogben beat Chris Gent 2500-2320 in the final singles, Latham & John Skinner edged Gent & Steve Philpott 2180-2050, and finally Carlson & Skinner just defeated Tanya Philpott & Gent 1960-1890.  Skinner capped a fine doubles display as he partnered Hogben to the last doubles victory.
