In Group A, the Chantry put on an exhibition of bar billiards as they beat the
Royal Oak 6-0 in Canterbury .  Mick Nichol (10240), Kevin Kay (8010) and John Fullager (9670) took all three singles comfortably for the home side.  The triangles-fettered doubles restricted the Chantry's
free scoring, but the closest frame was the final one as Fullager & Nichol beat Alan Smith & Richard Cousens 2340-1650.
The Magnet A beat the Brickmakers B 5-1 in the other match in this group.  Mike Callanan (6490) and John Higgens (8250) put the Magnet A 2-0 up, before Simon Jones (8550) secured the point for the Brickies.  After the first two doubles fell to the Magnet A, the bonus points were assured, but the Brickies came close to a second point in the final frame as Mike & Lin Callanan won after a black peg from Simon Jones & Nick Corck.

The Butchers Arms earned a well-deserved draw, 3-3 away to the
Market Inn B.   Craig Carlson (3290) put the Market in front, before wins for Doug Vickers (1840) and Darryl Pemble (2060-2040 against Derek Latham) put the Butchers ahead.  After Pemble & Phil Court took the first doubles, a win for the visitors looked likely, but the Market team scrapped for the final two legs, Carlson & Ted Hogben beating Paul Collins & Pemble 1480-1270, then Hogben & John Skinner defeating Vickers & Court 1730-1490.
The Fitzwalter Arms enjoyed a 4-2 win at home to the Magnet B.  Roger Oldfield (6420) put the Fitz ahead, Tanya Philpott levelled for the Magnet B, and finally Lee Byford (2470) restored the Fitz lead.  The Magnet B, fresh from their stunning Challenge Cup victory against the Alma Lions, managed to take the first doubles through Steve & Tanya Philpott.  From there, though, the Fitz took the final two doubles to secure match victory.

Group C saw the Alma B forge an early lead, thanks to a 4-2 win away to the Greyhound.  Daniel Jackson (3040) beat Harry Pearson to give the Greyhound the lead, but only after Pearson back-pegged late, with just luckily escaping a similar misfortune.  Dave McNeily (3160) played exceptionally well to put the home side 2-0 up, including a 2100 break.
The
Alma revival began as John Mitchell (6990) won the final singles, followed by an 1860-1410 victory for Rick Cowdrey & Bill Edwards in the first doubles.  The next doubles also went to the Alma , and the turnaround was completed in the final leg as Shirley Cowdrey & Rick
Cowdrey beat Len Carlson & Roger Beadle 1810-1050.
The
Market Inn A defeated the Plough & Harrow 5-1 in Tilmanstone.  The Plough took the first leg as Ann Keen beat Alan Farra 2720-2600 in a last ball game, but from there the Sandwich side took control.  Gareth Butcher (4750) won, followed by a narrow victory for Dave Carliell
against Karen Keen.  The
Market Inn A also took all three doubles, the highest scoring being 2570 for Christine
