The Chantry stretched their lead at the top with a 5-1 win at the

The Lion cemented their position in 2nd place with a convincing victory away on the very fast
Royal Oak table in Nonnington.  Gary Clarke (5590) opened well for the Oak with a win against the luckless Wack Sampson, but Tim Hayes levelled the match after narrowly beating Alan Smith with an unfinished break after the bar had dropped.  Neville Potts put the visitors ahead with a good win, compiling an impressive 6930 after losing his opening 2500 break.  The first doubles went to the home team with Alan Smith & Richard Cousens victorious, but the Lion took the final two doubles to secure match victory, Paul Smart & Wack Sampson
hitting 7110 in their win.
The Fitzwalter Arms A beat the
Market Inn A 5-1 in the chase for third place.  Gareth Butcher (2870) put the visitors ahead, but victories for Roger Oldfield (2930) and Mark Graves (1970) gave the Fitz advantage.  The first two doubles also fell to the Fitz, before the final and closest doubles was taken by Mark Graves & Steve Lake, 2010-1490 against Len Carlson & Dave Carliell.

The Plough & Harrow from Bridge beat the Magnet A 5-1 in impressive fashion.  Ian Dennett scored 11600, before John Higgens (5970) levelled the match for the visiting Magnet team.  Keith Symes (6320) put the Plough back ahead, and the 5650-1810 win for Mark Maher & Baz Symes put them in control.  The last two doubles also fell to the home side, including a final leg victory of 7160-4340 for Dennett & Baz Symes against Higgens & Mike Callanan.

In Division 2, the beat the Fitzwalter Arms B 3.5-2.5, thereby winning the division with two games to spare, although the Fitz ran the
Alma closer than any other team this season.  Rick Cowdrey and Lisa Goddard drew 1170 each, Lisa potting the 200 after a tense few attempts to seal a share of the spoils.  Nigel Scott put the Fitz ahead, just beating Dave Howarth 2390-2170 in a last ball game, after Howarth had missed his attempt at the 200 by a fraction.  Carl Byford finally ended Bill Edwards 100% record, an excellent victory to put the Fitz in control.
John Mitchell played all three doubles, his skill and experience saw the
Alma take maximum points in those, thereby sealing an early promotion.

The Butchers Arms recorded another good victory, this time 4-2 against the Greyhound.  Paul Collins (2450) and Doug Vickers (3810) put the Butchers Arms 2-0 up, before Daniel Jackson beat Darryl Pemble 3050-2170 to earn a point for the visitors.  Paul & Ruth Collins took the first doubles, before a close leg was won by Daniel Jackson & Roger Beadle, 3140-2810.  Vickers & Ruth Collins scored 3810 in the final frame to secure the match victory.
