An excellent 5-1 win for the Lion at home to the

Inn
A
sent them straight to
the top of Group A. Nev Potts (2840) took the first leg, before

rattled a 1700 break to eventually beat Gareth Butcher 3350-1110.
All three doubles went to the Lion to complete the victory for the Ash
team, the highest scoring in the fifth leg as Tim Hayes & Wack
Sampson defeated Christine & Alan Farra 5740-2110.
The
Magnet A have made an encouraging start, their 5-1 win against the
Royal Oak
following on from
their opening victory last week. John Higgins took the first leg,
but Stuart Richardson gained the next singles for the visiting Oak team
to draw them level. Mike Callanan, however, restored the Magnet
lead by defeating Alan Smith 3680-2090.

minimum damage for the
Royal Oak

The
Alma B and the Brickmakers A shared the spoils 3-3, as Bill Edwards and
Dave Howarth took the first two legs for the home side, before Craig
Lancaster reduced the deficit in the third leg for the Brickmakers.
Lancaster
won both his doubles
too as he maintained a 100% record on the night, including a 3260-2450
win with Ann Garlinge against Dave & Sheila Howarth.
In between those two doubles, Rick Cowdrey & Harry Pearson
rattled up a 3970 score for the
Alma

The
Chantry currently lie in second place after a 5-1 win in Canterbury
against the Plough & Harrow from Tilmanstone. Mick Nichol
(5230) took the first leg, which was immediatley equalised by Ron Beer.
The Chantry, however, took all the remaining legs as John Fullager
(3870) wrapped up the singles, followed by all three doubles including a
5560-3090 win for John Fullager & Roger Standen against Ron Beer
& Brian Carpenter.
In Group B, the Market Inn B have established themselves as the draw
specialists after being held 3-3 at home by the Fitzwalter Arms, their
second successive drawn match. Matt Newman and Derek Latham took
the first two singles legs for the
Sandwich
side, before Steve
took the third leg to narrow the deficit.
Lake
then partnered Roger
Oldfield to take the first doubles, and Oldfield in turn teamed-up with
Nigel Scott to give his side the lead. Matt Newman & Daniel
Jackson managed to salvage the draw as they beat Roger Oldfield &
Mark Graves 2920-1710 in the final leg.
Elsewhere,
local Alma A player Chris Saville travelled to Jersey to play for
England in an annual match against the Channel Islands. England
won the fixture 7-4, and although Saville played as a reserve, his
aggregate of two legs of 21970 was England's second highest, and break
