The
Plough & Harrow from Bridge defeated the Market Inn 5-1 to move within
touching distance of the final. Ian
Dennett beat Alan Farra 4670-3500 to give the Plough the lead, Gareth Butcher
edged out Paddy Maher 2890-1990 for 1-1, and in the final singles Keith Symes
beat Craig Carlson 6230-2780 to regain the lead.
The first doubles saw the Plough lead extended as Dennett & Baz Symes
won a competitive frame 5160-4030 against Carlson & Dave Carliell.
Baz Symes & Keith Symes scored 6660 in the next doubles, and the
final frame of the night was taken 4560-3430 by Maher & Baz Symes against
Butcher & Christine Farra.
The
Lion kept their faint hopes of making the final alive after a 5-1 win at the
Magnet B, but they must beat the Plough & Harrow handsomely on the final
fixture to progress. Neville Potts
(3730), Tim Hayes (2210) & Wack Sampson (3160) took all the singles games
for the Lion, and the first scheduled doubles was won by Hayes & Potts
3070-1410 against Rob Robertson & Tanya Philpott.
The Magnet consolation point came in a narrow victory for Tanya &
Steve Philpott 2260-1920 against Potts & Matt Andrews.
Sampson & Hayes scored 5370 to win the final frame of the evening.
In
Group B, the
The
Magnet A revival came too late in Group B as their latest victory, 4-2 at the
Brickmakers B, leaves them 9 points adrift in second place.
Lin Callanan saw off Nick Corck 2200-1510, and then John Higgens (2450)
and Mike Callanan (3210) made it 3-0. The
Brickies fought back as Simon Jones & Simon Hart scored 3290 to take the
first doubles and then a last-ball game was won 2690-2530 for Jones & Paul
Dargan against Lin & Mike Callanan. John
Higgens & Lin Callanan scored 3630 in the final frame to secure the match
victory for the Magnet.
In
the Plate, the Fitzwalter Arms beat the Greyhound 5-1 to give themselves a handy
advantage with one fixture left. Lee
Byford took the first frame for the Fitz, 1540-1180 over Roger Beadle, Nigel
Scott defeated Dave McNeily 2330-1410 for 2-0, and the final singles was won by
