Herewith the Dover, Deal & District bar billiards league report for this week.  From next Tuesday (17/6), the Summer league starts. 

Plate Final result: Magnet A 2 Butchers Arms 4.

The Spring Cup Plate final took place at the Market Inn in Sandwich last Tuesday, and it saw the Butchers Arms beat the Magnet A 4-2 to win a
trophy in their first season in the league.  Mike Callanan (3270) took the first leg for the Magnet, but this was the Deal side's only singles
success.  Paul Collins beat Ward Griffiths 1270-930, and Doug Vickers won another close frame, 2260-1780 against John Higgens to give the team
from Ashley the lead.  Mike & Lin Callanan beat Doug Vickers & Baz Winter 2370-1550 to level matters, but in the next leg Ruth Collins &
Janet Kershaw beat John Higgens & Lin Callanan by the margin of just 40 points as Janet Kershaw thundered the final ball down the 100 hole for
the victory.  Entering the final frame, the Butchers Arms led 3-2, but the Magnet led on points aggregate, so as with the main final it was winner takes all.  Paul Collins & Doug Vickers, however, could never be accused of pusillanimity as they competently took the final frame for a 4-2 victory and the Spring Cup Plate.
