These were the final round of matches until the New Year, the league resumes again on January 6th.  Until then, best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.

The Chantry are 11 points clear in Division One after a 6-0 demolition of the Fitzwalter Arms A.  Kevin Kay (5140), John Fullager (4330) and Mick Nichol (5380) took the three singles, and all three doubles went in similar fashion to the Chantry, Nichol & Fullager top-scoring with 5620.

The Lion team from Ash enjoyed a 6-0 win against the Plough & Harrow from Bridge, in what could be the last game at the Lion venue, with the current owners leaving.  The Lion performed well throughout, Neville Potts (8510) winning the first game with an unfinished 5010 break.  Tim Hayes beat Keith Symes 8890-5000 with a late 4980 break, and Wack
Sampson just edged Baz Symes 4900-4000.  The doubles all went to the home team, top score going to Sampson & Potts with 6950, and there was to be no consolation point for the visitors in the final two doubles.  The Lion team would like to thank Graham & Steph for their hospitality over the years, and the league joins the Lion in wishing them good luck in 2004.
In the run up to Christmas, the
Market Inn B finally recorded their first win of the season, 4-2 at the Magnet A.  John Higgens potted the last ball down the 100 to beat Derek Latham 2140-2110 in the first leg, after Latham had earlier lost a 2000 break, which put the Magnet ahead.
John Skinner defeated Ward Griffiths 1930-1280 to level matters, and Craig Carlson bested Mike Callanan 4320-2900 to put the
Sandwich side in front.  The doubles went well too for the Market Inn B as Carlson & Ted Hogben (3330) took the first, and then Latham & Hogben (4480) secured the match victory.  The final doubles was close throughout, but eventually was edged 2960-2450 by Lin & Mike Callanan.
The
Market Inn A beat the Royal Oak 5-1, moving the Sandwich side clear in third place.   Andy Jones (4320) put the Market 1-0 up, Alan Farra edged Stuart Richardson 2310-1860 for 2-0, and Gareth Butcher defeated Richard Cousens 2750-2630 for a clean sweep in the singles.  The first two doubles also went to the Market, Butcher & Christine Farra top-scoring with 4880, and the Oak's consolation point came via Richardson & Cousens in the final leg.

The Alma from Deal go into the New Year 18 points clear at the top of division two after a 6-0 win against the Greyhound in Sandwich.  Harry Pearson (2420) won the first leg, and Rick Cowdrey (3760) made it 2-0.  Dave Howarth won a dramatic game against Daniel Jackson 2700-2610, playing out the table when the bar-dropped, and finishing on the 100 hole to win.  Pearson & Bill Edwards (5320) secured match victory, and John Mitchell & Cowdrey just beat an unlucky Dave McNeily & Daniel Jackson 20501840, with the final leg also tumbling to the
Alma .
The Plough & Harrow from Tilmanstone drew 3-3 with the Magnet B.  Anne Keen scored an impressive 6900, before the Magnet fought back with wins for Steve Philpott (1800) and Tanya Philpott (1960).  Ann Keen & Brian Carpenter just beat Steve Philpott & Rob Robertson 2980-2730 to level matters, Karen Keen & Ann Keen put the Plough ahead, before Chris Gent
and Robertson forced the draw.
