The Chantry continued their good form with a 5-1 win at the Magnet A.  Kevin Kay just beat John Higgens 2400-2240 to put the Chantry ahead, John Fullager (3860) made it 2-0, and Mick Nichol won his tussle with Mike Callanan 4130-3060 to ensure maximum points for the
Canterbury side.  Nichol & Kay scored 6340 to secure the match victory, the next doubles also fell to the Chantry, and the Magnet’s consolation point came from Higgens & Callanan in the final leg.

Basement side the Market Inn B enjoyed a 3-3 draw against the Lion, but will regret letting a victory slip.  All three singles went to the Market B as Craig Carlson (3130), Derek Latham (3560) and Ted Hogben (2550) all won.  Neville Potts & Wack Sampson narrowly won a key doubles against Latham & Carlson 2950-2380, and from there the Lion took the final two doubles to force the draw.

The
Alma stretched their winning run to 10 in beating the Brickmakers B 4-2.  Bill Edwards (4720) took the first leg, and remains unbeaten in singles matches this season.  Alan Holmwood took the second frame for the Brickies to level matters, before Simon Jones (4220) gave the Brickies a shock lead.  Rick Cowdrey & Bill Edwards took the first doubles, and Harry Pearson & Dave Howarth then regained the Alma lead.  Rick Cowdrey was in tremendous form as he partnered Howarth to victory in the final frame as they beat Holmwood & Jones 4440-2070 for the bonus points.

The Plough & Harrow from Tilmanstone staged a comeback to win 4-2 at the Fitzwalter Arms B.  Lee Byford (2260) and Nigel Scott (3150) put the Fitz 2-0 up, but a narrow win for Karen Keen against Carl Byford set up the Plough revival.  After the first doubles also went to the Plough, Karen Keen & Brian Carpenter won their game by just 200 points to put the visitors ahead.  Carpenter & Ann Keen beat Gemma Williams & Lisa Goddard in the final frame to secure the match victory.

The Butchers Arms enjoyed another decent victory as they defeated the Magnet B 4-2.  Darryl Pemble beat Steve Philpott in the first leg, inflicting Philpott’s first defeat in 10 singles games this season.  The Magnet fought back through wins for Rob Robertson (3740) and Chris Gent (1950).  Ruth Collins played in all three doubles and was unbeaten, as she partnered first Doug Vickers and then Pemble to victories.  The final frame, however, was drawn 1800 each between Ruth & Paul Collins and Tanya & Steve Philpott.
