The Chantry Club produced a power display to beat their nearest rivals, the Lion from Ash, 5-1 in Canterbury.  Mick Nichol scored 13510, including an opening 8600 break to put the Chantry 1-0 up, before Neville Potts fought back with 8860 in typical style.  John Fullager knocked two 6000 breaks en route to his 12570 score to put the Chantry 2-1 up.  The Chantry scored highly in the three doubles, all their players producing maximum 2000 breaks, the only close leg being the last as Mick Nichol & Kevin Kay defeated Paul Smart & Nev Potts 5630-4800.
The Fitzwalter Arms A enjoyed a 5-1 win away to the
Market Inn B , firmly cementing the Sandwich side to the bottom.  John Skinner (1890) won the first leg for the only Market Inn B success, then Roger Oldfield beat Derek Latham by just 110 points.  Mark Graves opened the final singles with a 2440 break, Ted Hogben fought back, but Graves emerged victorious by 3800-2550.  Oldfield & Graves beat Latham & Craig Carlson after an unlucky black-peg for Latham in the first doubles, and the final two doubles also fell to the Fitz.

The Plough & Harrow from Bridge found form in beating the Royal Oak 5-1 at home.  Ian Dennett scored 14040 in his leg, including breaks of 4960, 3200 and 3850.  Mark Maher (2050) made it 2-0, and then Keith Symes beat Alan Smith 7810-1940 for 3-0.  Victory was assured after the first doubles when Dennett & Baz Symes beat Smith & Stuart Richardson 4950-3000, the next leg also went to the Plough, and the Oak’s consolation point came in the final frame as Richard Cousens & Alan Smith scored 4770.

The Magnet A drew with the Market Inn A 3-3 in Deal.  Alan Farra just beat John Higgens 2000-1860, and Gareth Butcher (2180) made it 2-0, before Mike Callanan (3120) narrowed the deficit.  The first doubles was taken 3590-3380 by Mike Callanan & John Higgens against Gareth Butcher & Dave Carliell, followed by a win for Mike & Lin Callanan to put the Magnet 3-2 up.  Christine Farra & Alan Farra took the final leg to salvage the draw for the visitors.

The
Alma 's latest victory in Division Two was 5-1 at home to the Butchers Arms.  Rick Cowdrey (2740) put the Alma ahead, before a calamitous singles defeat for John Mitchell as he black-pegged on a 4000 break, losing a 3100 score and handing victory to a grateful Daryl Pemble.  Harry Pearson pipped Doug Vickers 1770-1740, sinking the last ball and regaining the lead for the Alma .  Paul Callanan & John Mitchell took the first doubles, and then Bill Edwards partnered first Pearson and then Cowdrey to successive wins to secure the bonus points.
The Magnet B are looking strong in the runners-up spot after a 5-1 win away to the Brickmakers A.  Steve Philpott (3130) won his singles to make it an impressive 8 wins from 8 played this campaign. Tanya Philpott and Rob Robertson both won close frames to make it 3-0 after the singles.  Alan Holmwood & Ann Garlinge won the first doubles for the Brickies for their point, the next doubles went the Magnet way, and the final frame was won by Tanya Philpott & Chris Gent, 2250-1690 against Paul Garlinge & Alan Holmwood.

The Brickmakers B continue to challenge for second place after a 4.5-1.5 win at the Fitzwalter Arms B.  Nick Corck put the Brickies 1-0 up; Simon Hart (2760) made it 2-0, before an excellent win for Nigel Scott against Simon Jones 3470-2900 for a Fitz point.  Corck & Hart won a close first doubles, 2390-1670 against Scott & Gemma Williams, and the next doubles also went to the Brickies to secure match victory.  A remarkable final frame was drawn, 1960 each between Lee Byford & Nigel Scott and Simon Hart & Simon Jones, after Hart potted the final ball down the 200 to level the scores.

The Plough & Harrow drew 3-3 with the Greyhound in Tilmanstone, as the Sandwich side battle to avoid the wooden spoon.  Sam Fuller won the first leg, after Karen Keen unluckily black-pegged after the bar had dropped.  Daniel Jackson (5080) extended the Greyhound lead, before Ann Keen (2120) took the first Plough point.  Karen & Ann Keen (4820) won the first doubles, but Sam Fuller & Dave McNeily just edged Brian Carpenter & Karen Keen 2310-2280 to regain the lead.  Ann Keen & Carpenter took the final frame and a share of the spoils.
