The Chantry remain top after a 4-2 win at home to the Plough & Harrow from Bridge.  Mick Nichol (8800) and John Fullager (8010) put the Chantry 2-0 up, before Ian Dennett (7420) fought back for the Plough.  Kevin Kay & Fullager beat Dennett & Paddy Maher 5460-3890, and the next doubles also fell to the Chantry, and the final frame saw the Plough’s second point as Maher & Keith Symes defeated Kay & Nichol 5170-4270.

The Lion got back to winning ways in beating the Market Inn A 5-1 in Ash.  Wack Sampson (2680) and Neville Potts (6240) put the Lion 2-0 up, before Terry Laslett nicked a last-ball game against Gareth Butcher, 2630-2610 for a 3-0 lead.  Dave Carliell & Alan Farra beat Potts & Laslett 4380-3250 in the first doubles for the Market's point.  The last two doubles fell to the Lion, including a score of 6770 for Laslett & Sampson in the final frame.
The
Royal Oak won 4-2 at the Market Inn B in a close match, and stay near the top of the table.  Stuart Richardson beat Ted Hogben 3690-2750, before Derek Latham (4970) pulled the Market Inn B level.  Alan Smith just defeated Craig Carlson 2910-2590 to put the Royal Oak back in front.  The first doubles saw Latham pot the final ball down the 100 as he & John Skinner beat Richardson & Richard Cousens 2860-2840.  Smith & Gary Clarke won another close frame, 3470-2970 against Carlson & Skinner to again put the Oak ahead, and the visitors took the match in the final doubles as Cousens & Smith were victors.
The Magnet A and the Fitzwalter Arms A shared the points in a 3-3 draw in Deal.  Mike Callanan (2680) put the Magnet ahead, before Roger Oldfield (4150) drew level, and Mark Graves took a close leg 1630-1450 against Ward Griffiths.  There was little in the first two doubles as the Magnet emerged victorious in both, John Higgens & Lin Callanan besting Steve Lake & Oldfield 2630-2250 and then Lin & Mike Callanan defeated Graves & Lake 2740-2030.  Oldfield & Graves scored 3960 in the final frame to snatch the draw.

The
Alma won 6-0 at rivals the Plough & Harrow in Tilmanstone to decisively move clear at the top.  The first frame was fairly close as Dave Howarth beat Brian Carpenter 2500-1660, but the next two were anything but, as John Mitchell (6290) and Bill Edwards (9140) extended
the
Alma lead.  A similar pattern emerged in the doubles as the nearest the Plough got was the first as Mitchell & Rick Cowdrey saw off  Carpenter & Ann Keen 3380-2000, but the final two frames saw wins for Harry Pearson & Cowdrey (5080) and Edwards & Pearson (3950).

Three wins on the trot now for the Butchers Arms, this time 6-0 at the Brickmakers A.  Paul Collins won after Ann Garlinge black-pegged, Daryl Pemble (3800) made it 2-0, and Phil Court narrowly beat Alan Holmwood 2060-1980.  After her heroics last week, Ruth Collins played and won the first two doubles but only just in both, partnering first Paul Collins and then Phil Court to victories.  Doug Vickers & Sean Narey scored 3510 in the final frame to make it 6-0.

The Magnet B also won 6-0 on their travels, their victory being at the Fitzwalter Arms B, Goodnestone.  Tanya Philpott (1210), Steve Philpott (2290) and Rob Robertson (3640) were all successful in their singles, and the match was made secure in the first doubles as Robertson & Tanya Philpott just beat Lee Byford & Nigel Scott 2150-1700.
