Neville Potts scored 9230 including a 5400 break to take the
first leg, Terry Laslett (5230) made it 2-0, and Tim Hayes
(4760) took the third singles for the Lion. After
Potts & Laslett took the
first doubles for a 4-0 lead for the Lion, the Market Inn
only had their pride to play for and responded well.
Craig Carlson & Derek Latham beat Wack Sampson & Nev
Potts 3960-1620 - after Potts had fallen foul of the maximum
2000 break rule. Finally, Hayes & Sampson just
beat Latham & John Skinner 4090-3760 for the 5-1 win.
There was an excellent win in
Sandwich
for the
Market
Inn
A
as they
beat the Plough & Harrow from Bridge 4-2. Dave
Carliell just beat Ian Dennett 2200-2080, before singles
wins for Alan Farra (4600) and Gareth Butcher (4790) made it
3-0 to the Market. Dennett & Baz Symes won a last
ball game by just 30 points against Carliell & Farra to
pull a point back, but Farra & Butcher scored 4870 to
secure match victory. The
final frame was won by Keith Symes & Baz Symes with a
5580 total.
The
Royal Oak
have
moved into third place after a 5-1 at the Fitzwalter Arms A.
Alan Smith (4960), Gary Clarke (6130) and Stuart Richardson
(3150) secured all the singles points for the Oak, and then
Richard Cousens & Smith took the first doubles for match
victory.
Steve

&
Roger Oldfield won the Fitz consolation point, before Smith
& Clarke scored 5090 in the final leg to wrap things up.
Defending champions The Chantry Club were again held 3-3,
this time by the Magnet A. John Fullager (5110) put
the Chantry ahead, but Mike Callanan emphatically took the
next leg for the Magnet A with a 12820 score. John
Higgens (4310) gave the Magnet an unlikely lead after the
singles on the Chantry table. Mick Nichol & Kevin
Kay fought back with a 7300 score in the first doubles, and
the Chantry took the lead as Kay & Fullager defeated
Mike Callanan & Higgens 4220-3490. Mike & Lin
Callanan snatched the draw as they beat Roger Standen &
Kay 5300-4340 in the final frame.
The Plough & Harrow from Tilmanstone continue to lead
the way in Division 2 after a 5-1 win against the Fitzwalter
Arms B. An even start saw Ann Keen (3430) put the
Plough ahead, and Nigel Scott (2560) immediately equalise.
From there the Plough took control as Brian
Carpenter won his singles, and then partnered Karen Keen to
win the first doubles. A close second doubles was
taken by Ann & Karen Keen, 2530-2000 against Lee Byford
& Nigel Scott, and the final doubles went the same
way.
The
Alma
are close
on the heels of the Plough after they won 4-2 at the
Brickmakers Arms B. Simon Hart played well as he beat
Rick Cowdrey with a 3650 score, after Cowdrey had earlier
black-pegged. A close second singles was won by Simon
Jones 3440-3060 against Dave Howarth to put the Brickies 2-0
up. From there, the match was turned on its head.
John
Mitchell knocked a break of 4970 en route to a 8350 total to
put the
Alma
back in
it, and the first doubles was also won by the
Alma
as Bill
Edwards & Harry Pearson edged out Jones & Ben
Williams 1660-1280. After the
Alma
won the
penultimate frame, they needed the last won for the match,
and Cowdrey & Edwards were successful.
The Greyhound & the Brickmakers Arms A shared a 3-3 draw
in
Sandwich
.
Ben Jordan (2450) put the Greyhound in front, before
Paul Garlinge beat Dave McNeily 1520-1170 to level matters.
Daniel Jackson's win for the Greyhound in the final singles
included a break of 2840 in his 5370 total. The
Brickies took the lead after the first two doubles courtesy
of wins for Ann Garlinge & Craig Lancaster (2710) and
then Lancaster & Paul Garlinge. Ben Jordan &
Daniel Jackson (5300) powered their way to victory in the
final frame to claim the draw.
