The result of this week's round was at Canterbury's Chantry Club as their 'A' team, and division leaders, entertained Magnet 'A'. Going into the fourth leg, the home side might have been surprised to find themselves 3 leg down. Leg wins for John Higgens, Mike Callanan and Lin Callanan (her first victory of the season so far), ensured that the guests were not going to lose the tie. Mick Nichol and John Fullager took the next for the Chantry with a massive 8000 points before Mike and John sealed the victory on the next.
The only point gained by the Alma 'B' as they entertained the Greyhound 'B' from Sandwich was taken by the husband and wife combination of Dave & Sheila Howarth as they beat Craig Carlson and Stuart Pearcy. But the remaining Greyhound players of Daniel Jackson and Derek Latham won all of their matches to ensure maximum bonus points.
The Chantry slip up allowed the Alma 'A' to go top of the division. They overcame the challenge of the Brickmakers 'B' to lead the group by 2 points. Ted Batchelor was the player of the night as he racked up a 3600 break, and Simon Jones was very unlucky not to beat Chris Saville. Needing just the last ball to win, he missed by a fraction of an inch, taking the black peg (and all of his score).
In the final match of the group, the team from Plough&Harrow in Bridge kept up the pressure on the leading two with a comprehensive 6-0 victory against the Brickmakers 'A', although the Plough captain acknowledged that it was closer than it looks.

Division 2 leaders Chantry 'B' enjoyed a better evening than their 'A' colleagues as they recorded a 6-0 win at the Magnet 'B' to extend their lead at the top of the table. Chris Gent for the Magnet could have taken his leg with a bit of luck though as he ended just 100 points behind Chris Cook.
It was a short journey to the Fitzwalter Arms in Goodnestone for the Royal Oak team from Nonnington, and a good one for them as they managed to take the tie 4 legs to 2, although they had to come from 2-1 down as first Roger Oldfield then Nigel Scott, with his personal best score of 4540, took their legs for the Fitz.
It was a similar story at the Greyhound, where the Tilmanstones Plough & Harrow were the guests. Ann Keen took the first leg for the visitors against Alan Farra, but the remaining matches all went to the home side to keep them just a few points from the top of the table.
