Group 2
The story of group 2 this week is that the Lion made the short journey from Ash to Sandwich to play the Greyhound ‘B’ and suffered what is just their second defeat of the season 4-2. That has allowed the third placed team Alma ‘A’ to gain a lot of ground, thanks to their 5-1 win at the Oak & Ivy with Derek Crittel and Jay Finnis taking the consolation leg for the home team against Tim Bourner and John Mitchell..
The Chantry Club from Canterbury, group leaders from the very start of the competition , suffered a very early, and surprising. set-back in their match at bottom of the group team Brickmakers. On form and much improving Paul Garlinge took the first leg against Mick Nichol thanks to a score of 2990. That was all the Deal side were to get though as the visitors racked up the remaining frames to finish the evening 5-1 winners.
